Wii's Last Secret
« on: May 11, 2006, 09:40:45 AM »
I feel really stupid for asking coz i'm sure the whole world knows now. But I wanted someone to tell what was 'Wii's final secret'. There was so much talk about how they revealed the controller, then the name, and the best was yet to come and would be announced at E3. I couldnt find anything here and ive looked around only to find talk on controls for a madden game using the Nunchuck. Can anyone help? thanks.

Online all the time
Speaker in the controller
Gyroscope in the nunchuck
Built in Web browser

Take you're pick really. Nothing too out of controll.

See, that's the thing: they promised "One more big secret", and we're left with a bunch of little secrets and scratching our heads which one was supposed to be "the big one". Did we even find out yet? My guess is it's the online all the time thing, but they really should have framed it better that it was.

Well, you guys are forgetting one thing.

If you add 3 of those together, you get something TRULY AMAZING!

A revolution in online interactivity (at least in the game industry).

I'll give a hint for which 3 you should combine: combining all three turns the Wiimote into a videogame phone (VOIP).

Shiiiiiiiiit........I'll just tell you. Imagine your friend from across the globe is playing her Wii. After a few games, she wonders what your doing and if you want to play. She goes to her browser and under her account finds you (listed as her friend). She then "calls" you. At this point, with the help of your Wii continually being on, your Wiimote starts to vibrate and a audible chrip projects from the speaker. You pick up by pressing "A" and now (with the unannounced mic that is built in to the controller) you can talk to her and set up a game.

BrillianT!
"Hey....

I'm not a whore, ok? Really.....really, I'm not.

But, if she slips man....if she slips, I slide!"

wow, using the remote as a phone? thats awesome! I'm guessing you can only do this when no disc is inserted. although they havent said its a microphone yet, just a speaker. But everyone seems to think it'll be a MiC too, thats what I thought as well. I see what people are saying, if they had said you could use the remote to communicate it would have been received much better as the last secret.

Yeah, I like this idea. Although, I wouldnt be against the idea of having an Xbox style headset to use so I could talk during games either, but for quick convenience (which is what Nintendo is all about) this is a pretty good idea.
Do, or do not. There is no try.

With the built-in Bluetooth (Controller <-> Wii) and WiFi (Wii <-> Internet), Nintendo has all the hardware it needs except a mic to make it possible. All they would need is compentant software to connect gamers. Hopefully what they are planning for their WiFi service will include such software.

It wouldn't matter if there was a game inside or not.

Either way, the most useful part of all of this is that your Wii wouldn't have to be powered "ON" to recieve a call. So effectively, you can get a call at anytime.

Actually, it would make a big difference if we are talking in-game speaking.  Seriously, I want you to try a little experiment. Go get a cordless phone, call a friend with it, and try to talk to him while you are swinging your phone around. I dont think he will be able to hear you very well.

But for the funcionality you are talking about, just a simple, call your friend thing would work wonderfully and is a darn good idea.

keep in mind E3 isnt over yet, there is a chance that they could surprise us AGAIN! (the first time being SSBB).  It does seem kind of suspicious to me that they kept talking about some big secret, something BIG, and they give us a bunch of smaller secrets.

Of course, what they have revealed does make me very happy, and I would gladly accept that as the final Wii.  I just cant shake the feeling that there may be something more.

I'm not talking about in-game though. I'm talking about if your inside your home, and your Wiimote goes off, you know that someone wants to play. Then you talk to that person while you set-up the game.

Anyway, its a SPEAKERPHONE too you know, so ya....

if nintendo does have one BIG secret they want to reveal, my guess is that its going to be on the last day of e3.
it would be the biggest cocktease ever if they did.

its like "okay big press confrence, what suprises should we let out...hmm...nothing really, Wiiconnect24 isnt as special as the BIG secret, so let give them that, lets not talk about price yet either, just to have a bomb to drop later....lets be nice, show off mario without talking about it beforehand and let the crowd roar...."

next few days show a few suprise games...

last day "we're so glad to see all of you having so much fun enjoying Wii and the games offered to you. your reactions please us to no end and we're sure Wii is going to be a huge success. By the way......BIG SECRET!"

and then the internet explodes.
