On the topic of Microsoft and Nintendo's "partnership", I read an interesting theory that Microsoft's real intention is to belittle the Wii by making people think the Wii can't stand on it's own. Humm.

Well regardless of his intentions its made the wii look good to the public, also Nintendo themselves admitted they expected/wanted the Wii to be the 2nd console for most hardcore gamers, so i don't think they care, the thing is if Nintendo is owned by most of the Sony and MS fans and also owned by ninty fans and casuals and non-gamers, well suddenly the number two console, becomes the number one console, its like a viral attack

So with ... uh... apparently everyone including Nintendo pushing the two console concept, how many people here are actually going to buy two?

I'm thinking of taking the day off to buy a few PS3s and sell them on Ebay.  If I make enough money, I might keep one.  However, given the price, I'm reconsidering that idea...too much risk even though I'm pretty sure I'd make a profit.

If I don't do that I may eventually consider buying an Xbox 360, but not until the price drops.
That's my opinion, not yours.

I figure if Too Human and a couple of other games that interest me turn out great I might pick up a 360 when it hits 200-250 for the premium version.

For the price of 2 consoles i could get tons of awesome-o Wii games.

Forget the 2 console crap.  I should buy a laptop.

I have this psychological block that keeps me from buying two systems (as well as an econimical block). I mean, seriously, why shell out $200+ dollars when you can buy 4 actual games with that? MGS4 so far is the only PS3 game I'm really interested in, but there's no way I'm paying more than $10 0just for one game, let alone $650.

I'm basically trying to spend the smallest percentage of my money on hardware as possible and the highest percentage on where it counts: games.

Or maybe I'm just a one console guy, much like I'm a one-char person in MMOs and am physically incapable of creating, playing, or even thinking about playing an alt.

Kairon: I'm a one console person too, I can't see my self owning two systems (especially @ atleast $600) just to play games. If I pick the wrong system and can't play some of the games I want, then I'll just have to convince a friend to buy the other system, then I can goto that friends house and play those other games.

I don't own an HDTV (yet ) and I'm happy with standard DVD for movies (for now) so I can't justify a $600 purchase just to play games (that I don't play all that often), and that $600 isn't even including a game.

I'm considering a 360, but there are very few games that interest me that much. I do a lot of multiplayer sports gaming, and I'm skeptical how well certain games are going to translate to wiimote (like basketball)

Oblivion is the only game I can see myself paying $60 for. PD Zero might be a buy if it gets into some "greatest hits" kind of situation.

And Oblivion you can get on PC...if you're PC is at least 2 ghz and has a decently up-to-date graphics card.

I think for me, a good rule is to divide the cost of the system by the number of games you want for that system. A $200 system with 20 games I want is worth it, because that comes to about $60 a game. So a ps2, for example, would be more than worth a purchase right now. An Xbox 360, though, really isn't...even if there was 20 games that I wanted, they would cost $75 each. Maybe that'll change eventually.

I think that pic is from wii60.com which automatically means it's fake (we already knew it was anyway). Now that I think about it, I wish I hadn't posted it. Miyamoto is too great a man to stoop so low as to say such things.

When it comes down to it, I just won't accept Sony or Microsoft in the gaming industry. It just doesn't feel right having these non-gaming focused, big electronics companies trying to throw their money around.

All would be right with the world if it was between Nintendo, Sega, and maybe either Atari or SNK... or somebody like that.... *sigh* imo Nintendo is all there is left in the console business. I WANT THE GOLDEN AGE OF GAMING TO BE RESTORED!!!

Actually its funny you should mention that, I was listening to a bunch of post E3 podcasts and one had this couple on who were friends of the host and they ask the wife whether she knows anything about E3 and if there are any game systems in their house and she says that she thinks they have an x-cube (At which point the Husband quickly interjects and corrects her saying they have an Xbox and Gamecube)

It seems like Sony and MS are just trying to butter us all up. I actually never EVER thought about getting an Xbox 360 until the horrible Sony showing and Microsofts recent attitude... but now i'm only thinking about it. Peter Moore is trying to push me to do that last step and purchase the system. Wii has the most hype on the internet amongst gamers at the moment, and getting these sort of comments on the web is like trying to get on everyone's good side. That just makes them even more evil though. Hopefully Wii will be the only new system I need, it's certainly looking like it so far.

As I said before, Nintendo + PC is all a gamer who isnt a FF/dragon quest nut needs (and theres even FF games for the pc now that I think about it). All good xbox games are in the PC, and since most are FPS they actually have better controls.

Playstation has a number of games that interest me, not just FF/DQ.  See: Ico, Collosus, Katamari, Kingdom Hearts, Virtua Fighter, Okami, plus about 20 other Japanese RPGs... Xbox, not as much, so many of the games go to PC, but there are still a few games from Rare, Sega and Tecmo I'd like to play on them.

In spite of all that, the only likely reason for me to buy a second system is if Wii pulls a Nintendo 64 on me.  I guess I kind of agree with Kairon: why would I want to spend $400 or even $200 on new hardware when I can buy several games instead?
