"Regardless of them being 'side-games', the fact that Nintendo has a Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest game at launch in Japan is absolutely crazy. How is Nintendo gonna be able to have enough systems at launch? They're gonna run out on the first day."

How well do games like Dragon Quest Monsters sell in Japan?  I know the real Dragon Quest games are huge but do the spinoffs have that same selling power?

I guess that rumor 6 months ago was correct-this DQ game is exclusive to the Wii.

Great news! I want to see how it plays with the controller though; there are so many possibilities..

Well the question is if this game is a "full-fledged" game instead of a money-grubbing spin-off like I imagine Monsters is. Out to class, back for Sony Power Point fest.

Let's hope it's not a crappy spinoff.

Well, most people said that Crystal Chronicles on the GameCube was a really good game, if you could find enough people with GBAs and link cables to play it with. The Wii version will be online, or atleast really it kind of has to be whether they've announced it will or not. So right there you know CC is going to be great. And it's going to be a really good graphical gague for the systems capabilities.

DQS is up in the air though but from the name of it you can tell that it's being designed from the groud up to take advantage of the controllers 'unique' attributes. What differences that will eventually lead to from the main series are completely unknown. However, I can easily see it being far more than just a Slime type spin-off. Remember, FF has one too: Chocobo's Mysterious Dungeon. If anyone's played it, how would you say it stacks up against CC? Are they of the same quality? How about compared to Slime?

Anyway, there's precident here so it shouldn't be too hard to descern what's really going on.

Happy to hear these announcements, but I wish Square Enix would give us more than spin-offs.   I'd actually rather have a brand-new series.  I hope the DQ game has some serious RPG elements in it.
That's my opinion, not yours.

From the IGN coverage;

"The graphical look seems to be on par with the previous Cube title, if not a tiny bit stronger."

Wow, that makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside. Or like swearing a lot. I can't decide which.

EDIT: It would also be nice if the new CC sucks a whole lot less than the first one.

Wait a sec, it is a GOOD thing that its graphics are on par with the Gamecube? I would consider that a huge dissapointment when it comes to the graphical capabilities of Wii, or perhaps I am misinterpreting something?

I'm kinda curious what the story of the new CC game is...
The first one wraps itself up rather nicely at the end.

DQ sidestory is great for Japan, but for the US it's a non-event.

When is Nintendo's press conference?

I think that comment was directed towards the DS version.

All they showed of the Wii version was a pre-rendered trailer... no in-game Wii action until tomorrow's Nintendo conference.

Yes. The DS version is the 'on-par' one. It clearly says it in the article. Which IS insanely awesome.

I stopped caring about graphics a long time ago.  Graphics should compliment a game, not make the game.  Look back on The Bouncer, all it had were graphics.

Give me games like Earthbound any day!
