Topic: NiGHTS rumor debunked? Naka just left Sonic Team.

Just check any website for the headlines, I'm too lazy to dig it up.

Anyway, this bit of news could be bad for those hoping for the NiGHTs rumor to be true. Unless I'm mistaken, Yuji Naka is the person responsible for the original, NiGHTS, correct? If not, then you can pretty much ignore everything. If I'm right, then read on. Unless NiGHTS for Wii is already completed, it makes no sense to abandon it before finishing it. The only likely reason is that Naka's not in charge of the sequal in the first place, or it might be handed down to his new company. While it's possible, it's also silly to do such a thing. Work on an extended period of time on a project only to move it around to another company (even though the same guy is heading it). Heck, for all we know, a sequal could be in the works, but will be PS3/360 only.

Of course I could be completely wrong, but that's not such a bad thing at all. Whatever's the case, I'd keep my hype in check tomorrow. You might be pleasantly surprised, or left totally disappointed.

From what I've heard, this only makes the rumor more likely.  But I don't know, I'm just waiting for an official announcement, I'm not making any assumptions.

Naka leaving is not a rumor, it's been confirmed today.

No, you see the rumor was as follows:

Yuji Naka would be leaving Sonic Team.  He would be starting an independent development house that has close ties to Sega (IE: Sega would be publishing their stuff, investing in them, letting them use their licenses).  That new development house was the group rumored to be working on NiGHTS.

That is very much in line with the rumor.

that's an impressive photoshopping, IMO, if it's a fake.

Naka's been supposed to be leaving for a long time now, so that news doesn't come as much of a surprise. It's also entirely possible he'd be able to license the rights to NiGHTS (and probably not pay that much, Lord knows Sega isn't doing anything with it).

The truth of a New company supports the NiGHTS rumor, however the stairs are a photoshop of last years Zelda stairs.

This years stairs are very boring......

It's fake, the stairs are indeed Turok themed.  I'd go find the picture I saw earlier, but I forgot where it was.
