A Zelda swordfighting game... Isn't that what everyone wanted when the Wii controller was first revealed? I could see it working in compliment to Smash Brothers as long as they do it right. The only problem I have with it, if it's a fighter, is that who's going to be in it? I mean, who uses swords in the Zelda universe beyond Link and Ganon? And a fighting game, even a real swordfighting game, would be boring after 5 minutes or so with only 2 playable characters. There really isn't enough sorce material to make this kind of game outside of creating new characters just for it, and what would be the point of that?

Anyway, I'll believe it when I see an official announcement from Nintendo. Beyond that I'm going to assume that this is just TP.

Almost no Nintendo games will stay the same as they were before.  Everyone was so worried that turning the franchises to 3d would ruin them.  Now everyone is saying using the remote will ruin them.  The games will not be the same as last generation, remember it and get used to it.

So I've seen some scans of next months EGM.  They are lo res, so I can really only read headlines.  I won't link them here, because that would be bad.

Their cover story is TP on Wii (that sounds dirty).

They conduct an interview with Eiji Aonuma and Shigeru Miyamoto.

Here are some notes I've been able to gain (from the little I can read):

1. They have an image that compares how it looks now to last year.  If you thought it was pretty then, now it blows last year away.
2. The FHC DOES seem have a small speaker in it.  Think about gunshot sounds each time you pull the trigger coming FROM your controller, lightsaber hum as you swing it.  Sweet Sweet immersion.
3. One header reads "We haven't quite found what the 'hook' should be with online play."  This comes from Eiji Aonuma, responding to EGM's questions.  I don't know the context or what that answer means, but I'm sure we'll find out tomorrow.

There are two ways you can read that quote.  Either he isn't sure what to do with online play, so it wont, or he has ideas he is still working on, and it will.

Like I said, I can't read the actual text (only headlines and giant excerpts like that one) so I don't have any context.

My was post was aimed at people saying that "Zelda is not a sword fighting game" and everyone worrying that changing the formula would ruin it.

All I can say, is what one, small red headed girl once said, fellas.

The sun'll come out
Tomorrow
Bet your bottom dollar
That tomorrow
There'll be sun!
Just thinkin' about
Tomorrow
Clears away the cobwebs,
And the sorrow
'Til there's none!

When I'm stuck a day
That's gray,
And lonely,
I just stick out my chin
And Grin,
And Say,
Oh

The sun'll come out
Tomorrow
So ya gotta hang on
'Til tomorrow
Come what may

Tomorrow!
Tomorrow!
I love ya
Tomorrow!

You're always
A day
A way!

Seriously, how about we wait until /after/ we get the REAL news,  eh? Ever since the name of the system was announced, it seems there are alot more disenting views about what is going on with Wii games. All of the sudden what everyone was hailing as fresh and new is already being bashed for things that we dont even know to be true or not, or even to what extent they /are/ true. I dont know why I am even bothering with this, but why dont you guys add a few years to your lives and follow my lead, hmm? Go about your normal/not-so-normal lives find things to do /other/ than posting, and just sit back with a bowl of popcorn infront of the monitor for the next few days. Let the show pass, mull it in your brain for a little while and see what you think then, hmm?

I am suprised more of you havent noticed this yet. Since there was talk of a cooking game earlier, lets use that for an anology. If you are sitting in a restaraunt and the waiter gives you a a sickeningly undercooked chicken with some garnish thrown around on the plate; what are you going to think of the cooks ability to cook? Well, throwing your thoughts out before you've given yourself some time to think them through is the same thing.
You throw us a half-assed baked chicken. What are we supposed to do? What are we supposed to think? I love the defense of "its my opinion!" You know what? I have no problem with opinions. But how about you give yourself a little time to think out your opinion, give it reasons for its existence in your mind so that we can at least /try/ to see where you are coming from. Saying; "ITS MY OPINION HOW DARE YOU!" Is kinda like "IT IS GODS WILL HOW DARE YOU!" only....with alot less killing afterwards. I think you will find yourself defending your opinions from others alot less if they are well thought out, clearly expressed ones. The people that will ,"talk crap"as it were, you'll find yourself alot less inclined to respond to as their comments will seem highly foolish and trivial.

Now, a sincere apology to the original poster for that completely off topic bit! Allow me to throw my topic-related 2-cents in here. I am really interested in the new Dragon Warrior game announced. ALREADY I am hearing people whine about it, but dear God, we know NOTHING about it! I love me some Dragon Quest, so I am looking forward to that. There really isnt anything else to comment on as far as Wii is concerned at the show. Probably because...well... the show hasn't STARTED yet. However... There is that rumor about the Lightsaber game that has been going around. Seeing it on a blog does nothing for me hope-wise or in any other way. Lets just say that, before this posting, I already had high hopes that this title would be announced. Now I am hearing all kinds of stuff that the controller will have a small mic in it? I wonder if people are taking this out of context, and it's like the DS mic, an input mic? Or is it a two way? Or, are there two mics? Or is it really just a simple mic to throw out sound effects, etc.? You know, I cant wait to see what other suprises come our way this week.  Count me in as EXCITED!

I read on another board the Wiimote has a speaker built into it for sound effects.

Really? Well, I cant wait to hear the official scoop. Even if that is right on the money, that is COOL. Lightsabers humming and guns firing, sword clanging, the sound of your sword silcing through the wind if you miss... After playing the greatest "screw-with-you-mind" game ever created (Eternal Darkness) it makes me wonder how that mic might be able to be used in a horror type game to screw with the player? >=)

An in-controller speaker could be very interesting in addition to rumble, if it's loud enough.  If I can hear my gun shot coming from the thing I'm holding in my hand, then Nintendo's realized the nearest possible take on 3-dimensional gaming.

Dragon Warrior, eh?  I think we may see that IP resurrected now that I think about it....

Apparently, Sadness will have a trailer at E3. http://media.revolution.ign.com/media/816/816122/imgs_1.html

My belief that this game might actually see the light of day just rose three notches.

Yeah, this doesn't sound like a very good idea.

new rumors from EGM:
Quote

The latest issue of US magazine EGM has some interesting rumours within its pages. First of all it backs up the talk of a sequel to Sega's Nights coming (although does not confirm a format), then there will be an all-new look for the next Need for Speed titles, and finally it states that Virtua Cop will be ported to Nintendo Wii!

I believe in the NiGHTS rumor, but this is the first I've heard of Virtua Cop Wii. Not that I'm surprised, cause I actually expect all and every Light gun arcade game to be ported and/or sequeled onto the Wii.

the only ones I can think of off the top of my head:
Sega - Virtua Cop and House of the Dead
Namco - Time Crisis and that mini-game shooter(shoot target & ducks and stuff)

I could see a Sega Virtua Cop collection being a big hit.  Also a House of the Dead collection would be cool too.

If Namco made a Time Crisis collection then the world would be perfect.
