I think your confused.

It's not Zelda: Swordfighting the game. That makes it sound like a seperate fighting type game. What it really is is Zelda, the zelda you know and love, with Wiimote sword-fighting.

Exactly. as I said in the TP thread, Zelda is not really a swordfighting game, its an adventure game, at least Tetra's tracker was about exploring, whats going to be about a "swordfighting" game? well, swordsfights, I can only imagine some sort of Wild Gunman game but with swords instead of guns, and that SUCKS because that wouldnt be a Zelda game...

I should wait to know what this damn game is about... still... what the hell are they doing with the franchise? ARGH...

And how should you know what a Zelda game is?

Just cause you played the games does that make you Miyamoto? Does that make you Aunoma? No, so STFU!

Your bitching doesn't even make sense!

I really expected Nintendo to be more creative than just having the remote be a sword. Who knows, the article was so vague that might still be the case. Noon tomorrow, we'll find out.

"Wait....seriously. Is it still a GC/Wii title or is it now strictly Wii?"

I assume this is a new title.  Or at least it BETTER be.  I want the REAL Zelda game I was promised on the Cube.  At the very least give me that.

If this is just Twilight Princess then I assume it's some special mini-game or mode or something like that.  Considering the amount of effort that would have gone into making the full fledged Cube game with dungeons and such I doubt they would cast it away to make a sword fighting game.  They better not have moved Twilight Princess to the Wii though.  We were promised one last hurrah with the "traditional" Zelda and my wallet stays closed if I don't get it.

Well seeing as how the Wiimote is intergrated into everything (not just sword-fighting), I think your thinking style is pretty....well, naive.

It's naive to think that this is just some dungeon and not a new control scheme. This isn't a new title, this is Zelda TP. Honestly, do you think Nintendo can develop TP, PH, and this new title while juggling the rest of their duties. That's high unlikely.

Also, I wouldn't put it past Nintendo to make this a full-fledged Wii game. Sure that's shady, and I would be pretty pissed as well, but then again I am buying a Wii so my anger only goes so far. However, Miyamoto has stated it over and over again: TP is a Gamecube title, and as such, it will play with a gamecube controller. So like Bill said, you don't have to play it with the Wiimote.

(Though why the hell not? Your crazy if you don't realize the potential here)

Ian, have you not paid the slightest attention to TP news in the last three months? It has been thoroughly confirmed that it will have two sets of controls, one for the Cube and one for the Wii. You can stop lamenting now.

No.  But the game minus the Wii controls should still be the epic awesome mega supercool traditional Zelda we were promised.  If it isn't, if the Cube game is comprimised because of this Wii stuff, then I'm going to be pissed.  It's not just as simple as "don't play it on the Wii then".

"Ian, have you not paid the slightest attention to TP news in the last three months?"

Well no actually.  I've been trying to avoid spoilers.  The wording on the IGN blog suggested to me a new game.  Like Zelda Swordfighter is the next Zelda project after Twilight Princess.  Though thinking about it now they probably mean TP.

"And how would this happen, exactly?"

It's been discussed to death.  The short version is that a really awesome game (like Zelda usually is) is so tightly designed that the levels and enemies and items are all designed to interact perfectly with the controls.  Having two completely different control schemes screws this up.  They have to make things more generic so that they can plug one of two completely different control schemes into any given scenario.  Any little detail that would only work with one of the controller options would have to be removed.  Unless the whole game is completely different depending on the controller used but that's an insane amount of work and I would be really surprised if Nintendo did that.

Perhaps every enemy could be designed with two sets of paramaters - with a different set being called upon depending on if you're playing with GCN or with Wii.

"Zelda Wii Swordfighting not zelda tp swordfighting
For: Nintendo Wii not wii/gc
Genre: Action not action/adv
Comment: Next-generation Zelda is on the way. Nope, I don't have a screenshot, but Nintendo annouced it this morning. "

NOT TP, that is what the new zelda rev game turn into and not tp so stop your bitching. This only has the name zelda since nintendo is way too lazy to make up a new IP to be a swordfighting game like MP:H being a fps and DDR mario.

Deja-vu?  Seriously, just replace 'wii control scheme' with 'cartoony graphics' and we're back to WW.  Honestly, do you truly believe Nintendo will screw your precious Zelda up?  Has Nintendo ever made a sub-par Zelda?  Zelda is like Christ to Nintendo, in terms of what it means to them.  They wouldn't put Wii-controls in it if they didn't work completely well, even, yes even if it sold more consoles.

"Has Nintendo ever made a sub-par Zelda?"

Although it was never translated Tetra's Trackers is supposed to be pretty bleh.

A few years ago I would have trusted Nintendo to never screw up a Zelda game.  But in the last few years they've demonstrated to me that Nintendo IPs don't mean anything anymore and that they just see them as "brandnames" to throw on the box for any old game to help it sell.  Metroid wasn't spared so I see no reason why Zelda would be.

Have you played it?  No?  Okay, then you can't comment on it...(Plus it was included with Four Swords Adventures, and it was NOT a stand-alone product)

I know you're not actually comparing Tetra's Trackers to TP, but don't even make that comment.  TP is a full-fledged Zelda.  TT is a mini-game.  When you find a valid reason for justifying your worries, share it.

And in my opinion, Nintendo would never use Zelda like Metroid.  It's debatable, but that's just how I perceive it.

Some people imported Four Swords Adventures so that they could get Tetra's Trackers and the generally opinion was that it wasn't worth it.  I remember at the time hearing reports from people who did play it.

What do you mean past few years?

I already know what you are going to say, yeah, those aren't Nintendo games. But you should expect, depending on how much effort they put into each game, how good it's going to be.

Ha! You think the complain barrel even HAS a bottom?

As for the topic, yes, TP has been molested by the Revmote, including the "Scratch the Goron's Nose" minigame which will be required to finish the game, only it will be impossible with the GC controller.

Time to retaliate. Let's all go flip over some cars...

This reminds me of Matt Casamassina's idea.  Seeing how TP would have been in development toward the launch of the Wii, they couldn't hope to have another full fledged Zelda game out the door for launch.  In stead they make an action game based in the universe.  His idea was Soul Cali bur style, but this works too.

Think of it this way, there is STILL Twilight Princess for you to play if you don't want to play the Wii exclusive action title.

Oh, and I've played Tetra Trackers, and it is kinda fun.  Sure it wasn't "traditional Zelda" but it was still enjoyable.  You can use your universe in different genre effectively, you just have to put effort into it.
