iOne of your most anticipated E3s?
« on: April 24, 2006, 01:00:38 AM »
With E3 just around the corner (about 2 weeks!), I was wondering if this is one of your, if not your most anticipated E3 of all time. For me, I definately can say that I have never been so pumped for an E3, except perhaps when N64 was revealed with Mario 64 followed by Nintendo DS's unmasking. Now I will not be there in person, but that has never stopped before from enjoying it because of the internet. Anyway, here is hoping to Nintendo stealing the show and regaining much of what they lost in the marketplace.

Let me just say this...You know that feeling right before the Nintendo conference is about to start?  You know, the "I have butterflies in my stomach and I'm all hyper" feeling?  Well I'm feeling that right now and it's a good 2 weeks till! >=|

I always look forward to E3 but am always fairly disappointed by them. Usually Nintendo gives us so little information I wonder why they didn't just save their money and send out a press release. This E3 however looks to be the breaking of the dam, and I'm going to be standing at the bottom waiting to feel the rush.

Hopefully there is so much info, that I drown in it.

Ay...this is the first really exciting E3 since 2001, duh. That time, Nintendo stole the show, and if they play their cards right, they might just do it again. Handheld launches, GBASP/DS can't generate the same buzz as a full-fledged next-gen system launch...and with both Nintendo and Sony unveiling, it seems like we'll be getting the real deal...

Reggie's introduction was fine, but the news he had to report to us was mainly boring.  DS and Zelda were pretty exciting, but the rest was dullsville.  This year is going to be a lot better, I hope.
That's my opinion, not yours.

You KNOW it's gonna be on!  Hardware years are always the bestest!  I was there in '01, then again last year, and the difference was palpable....I could care less about the 360, with it's optional 13" table fan sitting next to it set on "hi".  Other than Zelda and a few other things (I played Odama then too....what a dev cycle THAT had), it was just alright.

This year is gonna be something special....this is the year that Nintendo stages it's comback!  And, like Bill, I'm already having trouble sleeping like a kid on Christmas Eve!

Whoooooooo Hoooooooooo!

Just got my passes today too....6 of 'em....you think they would fetch anything on ebay?

Nothing can top my anticipation for E3 2001.  But this one is close.  It's a new console.  That sort of E3 is always exciting.  I just don't have as much interest in the Rev as I did in the Cube five years ago.  But I'm still quite excited about it.

No, I think 01 was definitely more exciting.  I got in big trouble at work for not working and only refreshing this website almost all day.  I had been excited about it for weeks and could barely contain myself on the day of Nin's press event.  This year is exciting, but not as much as then.  I think it'll be great, maybe even a greater unveiling than the GC's games, but I'm not anticipating it as much.

I get excited every year for E3...but this year is different.  This year is the big E3 we were supposed to have last year.

Last year was going to be all about the 3 next generation systems...and really all 3 companies disappointed with their showing.  The biggest surpise was how underwhelming Microsoft's showing was even though they were launching that same year.

Now MS is in full steam and must show the world its system can contend with the PS3.  Sony must show the world that its new system can do everything promised and bake waffles.

And finally, Nintendo must make a presence that is felt by the entire gaming world, and show that their Revolution really will be a Revolution in gaming.

This E3 is the biggest most exciting E3 for me because of the drama between all 3 major hardware systems out.

It is also Nintendo's most important E3.  They will be sending a message to the world with their new DS games and exciting Revolution system.

I would do anything to be able to be apart of this E3 and the Soap Opera to come.

I don't even remember how I felt about E3 01.  I thought everything looked gorgeous, which is not so much the case now, but I think I'm generally more excited about this.  I think there's more hanging on the line, which makes me really excited.  Nintendo has made some mistakes, but they've showed excellent progress recently and I they'd never throw everything out on a bet.  They know what they're doing.
I honestly expect to say wow.  Perhaps numerous times.

2001 was not that memorable, for some odd reason I seem to remember Spaceworld (or whatever it was called) taking alot of steam out of GC's unveiling. I do know that DS's unveiling was definately exciting, since it was going to be a unique handheld, I remember all the rumours floating around about what it would be like, definately an exciting time. This year though, seems to trounce most of the others in that there is still, supposedly, more to learn about Revolution and that we should finally get to see some games in action. We will finally get to see a potential "revolution" in gaming, similar to what the analog stick did for N64.

I think it'd be hard to top 01. But since this will be the first time we see actual games and hold the controller, it should be pretty similar. They had a ton of momentum back then but something fell apart, so I'm also not quite as excited as I was back then. I'll be disappointed if they don't have a Mario almost ready. Maybe that's what was missing.

We've gotten better at knowing what we want/expect  out  of the "upcoming generation," and that includes not getting over-hyped about wild promises and runaway imaginations/hopes.  We have an improved view for seeing that point of diminishing returns off in the distance.

It's apparent Nintendo, Sony, and MS will be crashing down a hillside in a roaring ball of garbage this year.  We're not looking for the sequel to Mario64 (that'll not show up at launch).  We're not looking for the Zelda Spaceworld hoped-was-a-real-game-demo (and turned out to be nothing BLOL SURPRISE! CELDA! BLOL).

Personally, I'm excited for the games-that-aren't-typically-expected-nintendo-franchises.
I'm looking at you, Suda51.

I never hoped that piece of blandness was real. But, apparently, I'm in the minority.

Anyway, personally, I was looking forward to the StarCube (I have a need to use that name whenever possible) unveiling a little bit more.  ...But that was spaceworld, wasn't it? Yeah, then, I guess I'd have to say this is my most anticipated e3.

I wasn't really in to online gaming sites in '01. Those were the dark ages when I sat around waiting for the June/July issues of gaming magazines to tell me all about E3. '02 was the first E3 I paid any attention to online. So for me, this is easily the most excited I've been for an E3. I'm so in love with the philosophy behind the Revolution that I want to find out what the results of this philosophy is. Is it a lie? Or is it going to better then the SNES? 14 more agonizing days...

trip1ex: Well then you are forgiven. Most things are not important enough to miss the addition to your family.  Though that totally stinks.  I mean the baby has to pick that particular week to be around due.  You know after hearing your plight I've notice it seems to be a lot of people who have lately been having kids due near big events.  I don't like that trend.  But the useless fact person in me would like to know that statistic of people not going to E3 that could because there wife was pregnant.

Is Reggie married?  Anyone know.  With my luck his wife be due too so we wouldn't get a Reggie smack down that we all are so looking forward to.  I couldn't even get mad at him if that was the case.
