Where's my...
« on: April 23, 2006, 04:48:45 PM »
...tunneling software that will let me play non-Wi-Fi multiplayer DS games online?

...adapter that will let me play GB/GBC games on my DS?

Remember the days of speculation...

Most of the good multiplayer DS games are online anyway...and if you wanna play GB/GBC games on your DS, get a flash cart. (and for the sake of legality, a ROM dumper as well)
Yeah, I do play mafia games.

The first has never been picked up by a serious set of coders...

The second can't happen due to limitations in hardware I believe.

Someone should pick up the first... and someone should figure out how to hook your GBA through the USB port for multi-player online gaming.

As for the second, If it can be done with a flash cart, I'd be willing to bet it could be done with some kinda of pass-thru/lock-on (Super GameBoy-esque) cartridge with a GB/GBC emulator on it.  Granted, it'd probably suck complete and total ass, but Intec or MadCatz should be able to do something like this.

This reminded me the "demasked" rumor that was going around back near the DS launch, that turned out to be nothing, right?

What was the story with DeMasked anyways?

If I remember right the guy who did Warp Pipe made up a bunch of weird images to make it look like he had something  going on, but it was all hot air, right?

I remember something about "If you're somewhere but no one can see you, how do they know you're there?" but there was so much useless stuff there that it's really vague.
"I used to sell furniture for a living. The trouble was, it was my own."

Man, that Demasked nonsense really pissed me off. At first, they were just making software that would allow the DS to find other DS's. (improper apostrophe use) But then they scrapped those plans and never really revealed their new plans. All they said was "We're trying to personalize the online multiplayer experience in a way that Xbox Live simply cannot do. But we can't reveal how we want to do that right now because competitors will steal it." Stupid vague hints. All they did was escalate hype over something they couldn't talk about. Lame.

Yeah, good thing Nintendo never does that.

The difference is Nintendo almost always has a huge payoff when they finally do talk about their mysterious projects. TGS 05, anyone? Warp Pipe was escalating hype over NOTHING.
