I had a Dream about Zelda!
« on: April 23, 2006, 10:36:01 AM »
It was kinda wierd.  I had just picked up TP, and I started playing it.  And then I realized "Oh shi-, I have Zelda." and got all excited.

Anyways, then the gameplay started, and it was...wierd.  LIke, it wasn't just "hit A to swing", but when you entered combat, each button was mapped to a different sword stroke, i.e. A was thrust, B was downward swing, X was up and to the left, and Y was up and to the right.

Of course, when I woke up, I was all disappointed, but it was still really cool having that "I finally have Zelda" feeling in my dream.

Anyways, whaddya think of the control scheme?  A portent of things to come? Or just dream logic?

I have had so many dreams about having games that I don't have yet and feeling really good then waking up and feeling disappointed when I realize it was only a dream.
Not for Twilight Princess yet, though.

I was expecting this thread to have less to do about control schemes and more to do about hot princesses. But okay.

Maybe, if you take it less literally. It could mean that there will be several ways for you to accomplish the same goal in the future. Or maybe the control scheme, with one action reduntantly tied to several buttons, is indictive of the fact that one game (Zelda) is reduntantly tied to several neural pathways in your brain. In other words, you could be thinking about Zelda too much.

Nowhere near. ^

I had weird dreams while I was awake recently, about Killer 7. I'd think abuot the story and what was happening, then sort of dose off... but not asleep, then i'd suddenly get a falling sensation, like I just fell over but then I realise i'm just lying down, and i'm like "whoa". It happened a few times.

I had a dream recently where I was in Japan for some reason, I saw Miyamoto and said hi, and that I was a huge fan of Pikmin 2, he grinned then he asked me a crucial question! "Should we make Pikmin 3 or something new?" I had no idea, I didn't answer but he lead me to this Nintendo building where they were working on both, Pikmin 3 looked exactly the same as Pikmin 2 and the new game was just black and white shapes, then I woke up.

The new game sounds better than Pikmin 3.

I had a rev dream semi-recently. I don't know whether to post it here or bump animecyberrat's thread.

I think I've said this before here.. I've had two Nintendo-related dreams in my life; one when I first played Super Mario Bros for the first time, and another one just recently.

I was in a carriage with Iwata and Miyamoto. In the middle of a HUGE world with forestry and mountains in the background and fields and all. Turns out I was actually inside the Pikmin world, with them all around and completely contrasting the realistic world.. And apparently I was actually getting a tour of the virtual Pikmin world that Nintendo developed. In fact, Iwata mentioned that he "developed" that forest in the background himself. I think I said something about how nice it looked, and he acted like his usual modest self.

It's really weird that those are my only two Nintendo dreams ever - I would have thought there would be a lot more.

im glad i found this thread, i had the weirdest dream a few nights ago and havent told anyone about it yet. its not nintendo related so sorry if im breaking away from that but i have to get it out.

i was on a plane and i guess it had to do some kind of emergency landing becuase all of a sudden its trying to touch down on a freeway, except its on the wrong side!!! if you think thats crazy it gets worse..
now i can see everything happening from the planes perspective as its going down towards all these oncoming cars and their all scrambling to get out of the way. things are fine for about a second and a half when one car crashes into another, who hits another knocking it in front of a truck that swerves to avoid it but isntead tears one of the wings off the plane. it swurves again in the other direction and t he truck bed turns wide and crashes into the side of us. its total chaos with explosions and cars crashing and being turned over.
then on the lanes shoulder there was a policeman pulling someone over. in slow motion i saw all of tihs happen;

an suv was knocked off the road and into the policemens car but no one was inside, then another car toppled over and crushed one of the officers as the family began to run off and save themselves. at this point i have no idea whats up with the plane but i keep seein all this massive destruction. i saw a motor cycle veer offroad and run over a little girl and her brother then explode as the father was trying to pull them out from under it. the man ran burning, screaming into traffic to be hit by more oncoming cars and the mother kept running. then the other police officer from before came out of no where and tackeld her to the ground screaming at her "YOU KILLED HIM IT WAS YOUR FAULT". then some other explosion, not sure from where, burned his face and i woke up.

am i crazy?

I don't think you're crazy EasyCure, I have different but equally violent dreams.  Usually mine are about anarchy overtaking my city and gangs of thugs trying to attack my family.  On a lighter note, I once had a dream that it was World War III and airplanes were firing lasers through the gaps under the doors in my house.  I had to stand up on the dishwasher so they wouldn't hit me.

As for video games, my dreams about them usually involve being inside them somehow.  I'll be playing the game as if I'm actually the hero.  Sometimes it's fun, other times it's like, "$(^*$!@!!  Get me away from this 3-story high monster!"
That's my opinion, not yours.

I've had countless dreams about games and stuff, here are two!

The first one was with Miyamoto.  For some reasons I was his best friend, and also a pilot!  I was flying Miyamoto to his winter home (which looks exactly like my friends house...coincidence?!?!?).  Anywho I crashed in his backyard and was pretty freaked out, you know having PROBABLY KILLED MIYAMOTO and stuff.  But he was alive.  And smiling.  Always smiling.  We went into his house and he took out the trash with a huge creepy grin.  I said wow.

Then I had a Rev dream.  I got a Rev for my birthday and was pretty excited, what with the Rev not being out an all.  I was worried about the games though.  I got the Rev early, but were any of the games finished?  YES!  I got two games, both first person shooters LOLOLOL.  But what!  Nup!  These were PS2 games with "Revolution" in the title!  Whoops!  I think I cried a little because my parents were so stupid.  That was just about when the controller turned into cardboard and the console grew into immense proportions and folded itself into a giant laptop that said "DARE" on it.  Then the dream turned into a weird "naked at school" type thing except I was really hawt so I didn't care!

The end!

I've dreamt of some pretty cool (and innovative) games so far. Problem is I often forget large parts of them. Sometimes I wonder if I really forgot or just never knew, with memories that were just a mental note reading "insert third gametype here" or something. Sometimes I just dream of scenes mixed together from various games, sometimes I dream of entire new games or storylines belonging to them. I've once dreamt of the DVD intro to the annihilation of mankind (or at least an anime flick involving that) with quite disgusting imagery. Woke up bathed in sweat, the panic from the dream combined with the depression and despair from military service had quite an effect... That gave me the story idea for a game idea I had for some time. RandomZ said that explains why my "game ideas" folder has so many entries. I wish I was able to write a game that can convey the same sickness (there's a feeling of depression I can only describe as "the sickness", it feels as if the entire world has fallen ill) as that dream. Sorry, I'm tired, can't follow a train of thought...

Oh and there was this one time I've dreamt that I could turn into Chuck Norris through pure willpower and roundhouse kick a talking lion. Dunno, that was quite cool.

Actually, I've had my brain on other things.  Mainly the two Jim Butcher novels about to be released and Hellblazer.  So I was weirded out cause I've been kinda not thinking about the fact that Zelda might not come out til October.

And when I said portent, I meant "The future of the Zelda franchise", not for me personally.

JEEZ.

I love dreams. Here's my rev-related one:

I was inside a rev game, looking out of a glass door, admiring the graphics. The city outside looked so real, thought I. Amazing that they would put so much detail into a non-interactive part of the game. With the increased ability of the rev controller, I could even push on the door a little to confirm it was locked.

...but maybe I could somehow slip through anyway. With some concentration, I found a glitch and was able to slide through the door. I was outside. I looked around in the bright sunlight: concrete floor, staircase, buildings. Everything looked real, no graphical glitches. But I wasn't supposed to be there. I spotted a group of people wearing surgical masks running towards me. They were wearing surgical masks to hide the fact that they had no mouths.

...Thinking fast, I pushed off from the ground and soared into the air. They gave chase, but, lacking the ability to fly, they didn't really have a chance. I could even stop off for a jumbo-sized sandwich, and eat it as I flew around; looking for the building I was originally in.

...Then I woke up. Freakily enough, when I checked PGC, I learned that Germany had banned all current and future sales of DS and Revolution games (the US hadn't taken any action). It seems that a piece of code, related to a 'communication protocal' or something (I don't quite understand this, but think it might be related to the wi-fi connection), was causing some trouble. It was present in some DS games and all Revolution games. It had a subconscious effect on those playing… after playing, some would go to sleep and never wake up.

...I wondered, had I been affected? If the people wearing the surgical masks had caught me, would I have been trapped in my dreams forever?

...Then I woke up.

thank you couchmonkey for reassuring me. it was a scary dream though, i dont think i've ever had one that violent.
i do remember a nintendo dream i've had before. it was a few days before that crazy one i posted, it was about Mario Kart DS
it was simple, i was laying in bed with my DS and just somehow got connected to the wifi service and played agaisnt the world. it was awesome. (by the way i havent played wifi yet, thats what made the dream so special.

and this sounds random but speaking of cardboard (knowsnothingss post), my gf tried to buy me the NES-edition GBSP for our anniversary off of ebay and some dude sent her the box with some cardboard inside and a note apologizing for ripping her off and how he needed the money for an operation for his kids...how F-ed up is that?

As far as I can remember, I've only ever had two nightmares, and oddly enough they have both been grounded firmly in reality.  One was me going on a killing spree, and getting carted off to jail (I had the "Oh shi-, I'm going to jail cause I killed people and I'm never getting out" feeling) and another one where I nearly watched my father get crushed by a piece of machinery on an oilrig where he worked, and I was all "Oh no oh no oh no", but right before I jerked awake in horror, I saw him roll out from the otherside of it, throw his hardhat on the ground and start cursing at the operator.

If I've had any more, then I must have blocked them out.

I had a bunch of nightmares as I kid. Now, I don't really consider any of my dreams nightmares. Maybe I should...scary things certainly happen in them, but, not like when I was kid. I imagine I'll start having nightmares again when I have kids of my own.

I dreamt of another game tonight... You play as Kassandra (that's a character I've designed, won't mean anything to you. Let's just say cute, shy and an angel of death when she freaks out), it started in a classroom in a school, the player (who was more not me than me, I remember hammering the shot button on a PS2 controller but not making any other decisions) ran up to a terminal in the corner used it and jumped into an icon in the top left corner of the HUD (blue rectangle with a 3.5" disk on it), which represented "jacking in", then ran around in cyberspace shooting enemies with an arm cannon (like Megaman does), the enemies blew up and left two powerups, one of which added segments to a circle in the top left corner. The symbol next to the circle and its fullness changed, I suspect the player was chosing different weapons to power up or ammo up. One of the enemies was thrown back from the shots, hit a ladder and through a glitch* suddently hung on the ladder before exploding. I think that's where I woke up. The main character was used completely wrong, in normal space she had spiky, blue hair and in cyberspace she wore an orange/pink suit. She's supposed to wear either a robe or a silver combat suit and neither has a buster. Oh and of course Kassandra can't connect to any modern computer system. I think I've accidentally put Helena (different character, hell, different universe, though slightly similar look) in there, the colours clearly match. The dream probably mislabelled her. I suppose noone wanted to know that...

I think it's roughly equal parts Megaman: Battle Network (actually Network Transmission, I've never played BN), Megaman Legends, Metal Slug 3 (the shot button mashing) and standard anime classroom. Okay, I think the gameplay was mostly Megaman Legends.

*= I think I've used Windows too much. My dreams have bugs now, I've even had to reboot one dream twice.

I've heard from a CS nut that he imagined hearing footsteps, clicks and shots while he was in the bathroom.

Oh and today I got a Megaman game and a 3d Disney brawler to add...
