Wrist strap for controller?
« on: March 09, 2006, 11:15:24 AM »
Does anyone know if they are going to have a wrist strap for the Rev's controller? I have this fear of playing a hack and slash (Sadness), or a golf game, and having the controller go flying from my hand and smash into the wall and break.

Hopefully, yes you will. Then again, I might just throw the damn thing just to see what crazy sh#t might happen in-game.

Well it is a Nintendo product, so I'm sure it could withstand a lot of throws.

This is a legite concern I've thought about before.  If any games have you  realisticly mimicking motions such as throwing a ball, grenade, etc. chances are one time or another you will naturally let go.  I like your idea of a wrist strap and I bet at the very least a third party will sell one eventually.

Imagine just how much it's going to suck for the parent with a kid who throws a virtual gernade and sends the remote through their big-screen television.

I know its not a final design, but IGN shows the size of the Rev wand in relation to a wave bird. I don't think you'll be throwing it out of your hand on accident. Especially once you get used to it and all you're doing is little flicks of the wrist.

funny, but I am not going to ducktape a controller to my hand. Not only would it mar the finish on the controller, but it would also pull the hair off my hand

Its true about Nintendo products, I dropped my DS REAL HARD and all it did was crack the screan, stillw orks too just has little cracks in it. Cool to know that it still plays cuz allI have to do is get the screen replaced and its like new again. Not to mention all those years ago I used to solve my NES blinking problem witha  few hard hits and a swift kick in its side and it would work fine for an hours or so.

Will the virtual reality Nintendo On helmet feature a chin strap so when you're headbanging in Mario Headbanger Edition it doesn't fly off your head and knock somebody out?

As a game designer, I agree there should be a strap for the controller.

Imagine a game in which the controller represents a sacred weapon acts as a beacon for evil while also giving the bearer the power to defeat evil.

As long as you hold the weapon, you will be in grave danger, but will have it in your power to survive.

If you drop the weapon, you may still be in danger, but will not be the main attraction for evil. But you will be powerless in comparison to holding the sacred weapon in your hands. You may not be able to fend off evil from yourself or others.

Either way, you could lose your sanity, seeing the weapon in your hand transform into something gruesome or frightening that could cause great damage or mental disturbances in yourself or those around you.

So you will be very inclined to drop the FHC.

Wrist strap, hand strap, finger strap, whatever works best.

It's necessary.

Some of my friends just have insanely greasy hands and if they have to swing that thing around a great deal, it's bound to slip eventually.

A wrist strap could allow you to swing the controller in really fast circles.  That could be fun.

If the Rev controllers come with wrist straps then I'm going to make a rack for four of them (all different colors if possible) right on the wall next to my tv. then hang them from the wrist straps off of the four pegs that will be sticking out of it.

Yeah, and then I'll build a soapbox racer! It'll be so cool and have stickers on the side that say "Eat butt dust face!" and stuff like that!

I'd rather have a Pete Townshend guitar smashing game.  But that could get expensive after a while.
