So, I've finished my first play-through. I eat my words, the game's awesome. Sort of the videogame equivalant of Quentin Tarantino film, actually - it's ridiculously dirivative, and doesn't have the magic of truly original work...but it's so cool and fun you don't really care.
Anyway. Now I'm combing the game for it's precious secrets. (I've found several alternate exists - and they've all been shortcuts. Ugg, I've beaten the game already, thanks.)

Oh, this thing definitely needs a sequel. It introduces a bunch of interesting ideas, and then never really explores them that much. It dabbles with screen-spanning huge polygonal stuff (see: mega mario, and, um...that one eel, I guess), but never really goes anywhere with it. Wall-jumping isn't required to progress until you hit the last 2 worlds. Etc.
