But what about the other 99.999999999% of the gamers in the world who didn't go to E3?

That's an awful lot of players you're asking to take on faith the fact that you need to play the game to believe it, especially when Nintendo knows that graphical lust will sell a lot of games.

At this point, it might just be an "all at once" sort of event which Nintendo is banking on, but I think that, in terms of secrets, the controller is likely the biggest one the Rev has. I don't see anything else the Rev is doing as pulling as much of a surprise as the controller did.

TOUGH LUCK.  THEY'LL HAVE TO READ TO THE SEPTEMBER ISSUE OF GAMEPRO.  GOOD DAY, SIR

D=

If E3's about showing us gamers what we can pre-order "on the spot," then yeah gamers should get the media directly.  But I always thought E3's an event to pitch to retailers so they can decide on shelf space and what items to stock for the remainder of the year; exciting the customers directly comes second, cuz we receive the product second, after retailers.

Oh, and I think the wireless TV connection is aweful since the people with the "wirelessly connected" TV will get so-so video reception, unless ridiculously expensive high-bandwidth receivers are employed.

Thats why it is so important that they have demo kiosks in the stores.  On TV advertisements, people see the graphics, and they might say "Thats not so special."  However, the controller is so unusual (and revolutionary, if it is implemented well) that when a person actually plays it, they realize how fun it is, and dont care as much about the graphics.   DDR is a great example of this, that game is such a hit, but it is impossible to realize how fun and addicting it is untill you play it.

You guys hit it.  The real secret feature of the Revolution is matter transmission through optical means, aka the thing Willy Wonka did with the candy bar and the little kid.  That way they can provide demos to the masses.  In fact when you walk into E3 to post any Nintendo Screenshots and media you most first agree to this technology.  You must have the people try so they can buy.   Also just $449 for that screen.  That is cool enough that if I was getting a big tax return I go and get it.

Well, I think it may have somehithing to do with the depth in which the DS and the Rev interface.  I dont think Nintendo has confirmed this idea, but downloading your virtual console games to you DS to play them on the go, or possibly even accessing your VC account on Nintnedo WiFi Connection to play games you have purchased.

Still, kiosks for the unit won't likely be available until 1-2 months prior to its release and that's a big window for people to see and draw conclusions about the graphics.

And DDR is a horrible game. Those 9 footers are murder on the arches...

See, now that's just sexxxxxxy...

If the screen is an optional accessory, then I think I see why they didn't support HD.

You know I just thought of this but they could have heat sensitive areas like the Mighty Mouse has.  But then after typing this I realized that would be useless.

Yes, and reading previews <<<<<<< trying it yourself, I'm sure.

Like I said, if the graphics are no big deal, hiding them will only set fans and potential buyers up for disappointment.

Though, I admit that the time it can do the LEAST damage is when there will be journalists who have tried the thing and could say, "The graphics suck, but it's so much fun!"

Not that I'm saying they will, mind you, but you know people are going to pick at Nintendo about them.

I was gonna throw in the EA touch screen comments, but I was beaten to the punch. Could be potentially awesome if it's true.

new ON rumor

I guess there will be a new thread on this.  The things I found most interesting about the video were: that it showed Nintendo's use of sensors to detect the distance you were from the TV long before the remote showed it was possible, the game editing ideas, and the microcosm/macrocosm Nintendo logo was themed exactly like the one shown at E3 by Nintendo.  This is suspicious article number four.

Point made.

And on the subject of the On, Nintendo hasn't given their press conference at the Kodak yet. Do these people have a time machine or something? Does the helmet double as a time machine?

Nintendo designed the remote with the idea that is was simple and unintimidating to non-gamers.  So it doesn't make much to sense to think the "secret" is a bunch of extra doodads.  The whole idea was to get away from tons of doodads.  If they're going to clutter things up they might as well do it with buttons and analog sticks which are proven instead of mics and visors and all sorts of unproven goofy sh!t.  Nintendo thinks non-gamers are scared by complexity.  Forcing everyone to wear a helmet is pretty damn scary.

If it's outside the suggestions here, it'll probably  be something lamer than a mic in the remote.
Silly monkeys; give them thumbs they make a club and beat their brother down. How they survive so misguided is a mystery. Repugnant is a creature who would squander the ability to lift an a eye to heaven conscious of his fleeting time here.
