Guess the poster

I'll start off with an easy one

Quote

That's the problem. The big games for the North American audience are all sequels. Why buy a DS to play Castlevania or Mario Kart when I can play those games on the GBA which is much cheaper? In Japan it's different. Nintendogs and Brain Training have done incredibly well. Those games don't exist on any other system ever so you HAVE to buy a DS for them. System sellers are typically new games with new experiences. "Hey come buy all the games you bought last time" doesn't sell systems. It sure as hell didn't sell Gamecubes.

In North America Nintendo needs something unique to really grab people. So far I've noticed with the DS that the "traditional games" are all sequels and franchise stuff while the "non-games" are new. Nintendo has been of the idea that their franchises are everything so they probably think that franchises and sequels are good enough to attract the traditional group. But that's a flawed plan. It requires the non-gamer strategy to really take off. In Japan it has but in North America it hasn't really yet. After all the whole plan was in response to the market in Japan so it makes sense why it would work well there but not here. Here the "people getting bored of games" arguement doesn't make sense. It's quite the opposite here. So Nintendo has a problem where their new content, the games that are supposed to be the system sellers, are all non-games so if non-games don't take off in North America they've got nothing but a bunch of sequels which will make it harder to find a system seller.

The GBA doesn't help. After all if the DS isn't providing that much different for traditional gamers then the GBA itself having the GBA in stores is going to give people even more of an excuse to buy the old system.

It's not a really drastic situation but it's something Nintendo has to keep in mind. Traditional gamers are not going to be content to just play the same old stuff over again.

I've wanted to see Spirited Away for a while, but that little girls voice is so friggin' annoying. I can't even watch the commercials it hurts my ears so much.

Anyway, I made my avatar in Paint to go with my name, which I've been using for almost 3 years now. A few of my friends didn't even know I made it- they thought I got it from some cartoon mouse website. I didn't intend on it, but the way I made the eyes it looks kind of crazy, or scared. Thanks to Gamefreak for formatting and hosting it for me.

and to think - if these forums had a search feature, this game wouldn't be possible...

I have hit my 1000th post! This is a big landmark for me, as I am now in QUADRUPLE-DIGITS! Now, there are people like Grey Ninja and PIAC who have closer the 3000, but I'm on my way! Let us partake in a celebratory hive-five!

*hi-fives everybody*

That was fun! Now for those of you who brought their own booze, drink up!

*doesn't drink*

And now I will tell you a brief history of my life at the PGC forums.
________________________________________________________

When I first came here, I was known as "[edited for content]" and I am currently under the name of "[edited for content]." This was my first and only forum at the time, and to this day, it is the only one I post in more than once a month.

When I first came here, I was unfamiliar with the terminology. People often used the word "thread" but for a while the definition had eluded me. But as I progressed in my PGC career, I learned what not only what "thread" meant, but also some essential acronyms such as: LOL, LMAO, ROTFL, BTW, OMG, OMFG, IMO, WTF and some others, I'm sure.

My first avatar was one of Homestarrunner, a popular "no-arms wiley" from the hilarious flash site www.homestrrunner.com. But that one was soon replaced by a lovely message stating "I like to steal bandwidth from others." I then was avatar-less for a while, until I got my next avatar off of some hosting site. Some people may remember this avatar as "GIR riding a piggy"

After the hosting site went down, I got smartness and opened an Angelfire account.

I had my fair share of posting in multiple sections and pointless threads, but since then I seem to have gotten…umm…better.

When I was starting to get bored around here, I joined in the wacky-crazy-loonyness that is the Aussie thread. Since then, I have become a regular poster there. I have accumulated most of my posts in the Aussie thread and General Chat. I am now legally insane. Thank you, the Aussies.

Often times, I have encountered many problems and error messages on my computer. When this happened, I would turn to the town drunkard, Grey Ninja, for help. He has helped me on numerous occasions, and also has inspired me to purchase Xenogears and Metal Gear Solid for my PS, both of which I am happy with. He is also the reason I got Morrowind to work on my crappity-crap PC. Thanks you stupid drunk jerk.

I often PM people about the size of their avatars. Most people thank me for this and change them quickly. Only once have I been flamed by another person, and that person happened to be a “VIP.” Since then, I have not seen this VIP post. I think I scared her away. Tee-hee.

Throughout my stay here, I have a more sophisticated taste in videogames, and I am now a big fan of anime.

Other stuff happened too.

_____________________________________________________

The reason I have stuck with PGC is the reason most people despise it. The mods. I welcome the mods and think they do a great job keepinf the forums clean. People say this site is strict, but it makes it more fun to visit. I don’t want to see huge banner avatars that take up the whole screen, and I don’t want stupid racist punks swearing at me in “AOL talk.”

I like the number of members, too. People say that it’s small, but it creates a sense of community that I really like. When I visit other forums I feel like an outsider, but from day one I felt welcome here. I think it may be the color scheme. The forums may not be too active, but that makes me look forward to any new posts.

I plan on staying here and continuing to post regularly and I hope I can bring my post count up well into the thousands. And in the words of PIAC,

“I WILL SAY SOMETHING USEFUL ONE DAY.”

~Thank you~

P.S. I know I promised a song, but my friend with the microphone has decided to take a little vacation to New Hampshire. I’ll get the song up ASAP, but I don’t have a clue when that will be.

I agree--no newbie posts (unless they went on to become regular posters).  Anyone have stevey's first post?

Bill, I didn't answer yours because you edited your post later to add your quote.  When I first started posting the next quote you hadn't given yours yet.  And the reason I still haven't answered it is because I haven't the fainest idea who said that.

EDIT:  Since we have no open guess the poster entries besides the two which no one knows, here's a blast from the past.

Mods- I'm dead serious here, so there's no need to lock.

I've heard several people (can't speak for this forum) worry and think the Revolution won't be something truely revolutionsary.

Well, I've recently talked to a developer who is working on Revolution software, and out of desperity (sp), I asked him if he could give any Revolution details.

And it worked. Currently, I know the media format and even about a Revolution game. (I promised him I wouldn't tell any of the big details he gave me)

But the developer told me that the Revolution, is in fact, going to be revolutionary, which is basically the message I'm getting across here.

So there's no need to worry; Revolution is going to be here to kick @$$ and take names.
