Bleach DS Online???
« on: February 01, 2006, 12:46:25 AM »
I'm probably the last person to notice this but Lik Sang says Bleach DS is online-capable... Made by Treasure, online-capable, gives you passwords to unlock extra stuff in Bleach GC (at least the Bleach GC manual claims so)...

It also uses a touch screen support-thingies feature like JUMP Superstars.

From the trailer it looks like they put a bit more thought into it than the GC one, Bankais are more than just strong attacks on the DS and the animations look a LOT better than they do on the GC. My only complaint would be that the sprite animations could use more frames...

I wonder if this time it's a hit or a miss for Treasure? And whether this'll have multiple gameplay styles as Treasure loves to include?

Yeah, it's Wi-fi capable.

Check out this scan.  (First scan on the page.)

If you look closely at the scan in the upper left-hand corner you'll notice that the options are

VS CPU
WIRELESS BATTLE
DOWNLOAD PLAY
WI-FI CONNECTION
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

Treasure has a habit of throwing too many gameplay styles into a game and when you don't like one or two of them that could mean you never get to finish the game... I hope that all those options (two planes of movement, boost cards on the bottom screen, etc) don't overwhelm players.

See, that's what happens when I post at seven o'clock in the morning.  I don't function at 100%.

If any of you actually use the Wi-Fi connection and are not located in Japan for Bleach DS, be prepared to be owned super hard because 99% of the Wi-Fi users are in Japan, and connections to Japan outside... isn't that great.

I wonder if there'll really be a system to prevent importers from playing with each other. And I think Sega is planning for a worldwide release once the series is licensed.

I've heard that people have played online successfully.  I should know soon enough.

From what I've gathered, as long as you have friend codes in handy to play against people who imported it here you'll be fine and have a good game.  If you play anyone in Japan, it'll lag to the point of being nearly unplayable, no doubt because they probably didn't intend on anyone outside of Japan playing it on Wi-Fi.
