Out of print DS games
« on: January 25, 2006, 03:03:27 AM »
I have noticed that a couple games for the DS are now out of print. Let's try and get a list together for these games. So far, the games I know of are...

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney
Trauma Center: Under the Knife
Lost in Blue
Snood 2: On Vacation
Bomberman DS
Zoo Keeper
Feel the Magic

I'm glad we have two of those already.  I need to find Phoenix Wright though.

I'm going to guess that they pulled Snood 2 for good reason.

I heard Castlevania DS is OOP.  Sad, really.
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

vudu: Seems to be readily available from quite a few gaming shops sites. I definitely need to pick it up soon though. Have had my hands full with too many DS games though.

You can add Ping Pals and probably by now Mr. Driller: Drill Spirits (Dhrystone mode rocks) and Pac Pix. Eh, pretty much every early DS game is out of print by now.

The situation is a bit different in Europe, Castlevania stays in print much longer (all handheld versions) and some of your OOP games there aren't even out here yet.

Getting a copy of Phoenix Wright took every ounce of determination I had. Luckily, I was able to snag one (new!) and it was totally worth it.

No wonder I haven't been able to find Phoenix Wright anywhere. Guess I'll just wait for the UK release.

So does that mean Phoenix was more popular than they anticipated and sold out or is this some sort of Capcom logic? I just wanna play the sequels!

I'm really glad I imported Phoenix Wright now. Especially with no confirmed Australian release still. Snood 2's a bit odd though. I mean yeah it's a crap game, but isn't it like $10 US? I imagine it'll rack up some pretty impressive sales from all the people who have no idea how to spend $10.

Isn't Nanostray out of print as well?  Another Atlus game, right?

Majesco. I think there were rumours spread by Majesco about the game being discontinued four seconds after launch in an attempt for sales, but I dunno.

BW: Yep, at least NoE claims so. 31.03.2006 (same day as Resident Evil DS and Animal Crossing: Wild World). Trauma Center is slated for 28.04.2006 and Tales of Phantasia has a European release date, too, BTW

Make sure you present every piece of evidence to everybody at least once, and click around the areas on every new day. There's so many funny little bits hidden in this game.

So considering that it wasn't even in the 'system' at best buy (checked online and at my local store), is this game truly discontinued, or did it just sell better than expected on a limited run print?

I found both Pheonix Wright and Trauma Center at local GameCrazy the first time I looked.  And this was only like 1.5 weeks ago.  Both brand new copies.

6 of one, half a dozen of the other... it's a quirky title that had no real sales basis in the US, and you know capcom's wise business decisions... they were destined to either fill the stores with it (like they did with Product Number 03) or make half a dozen copies and scattered them to the four corners of the earth.

I'm very pleased that I bought the Jap version of Phoenix Wright with the finger stylus.  And the OBJECTION screen cleaner.  And the thick manga/artwork book thingo.  Now my mum's thoroughly addicted to the game, though!  I don't mind - it's great watching someone else play the game and get as into the story as I was!
