rumor: Silent Hill 5 exclusive to Revolution
« on: January 22, 2006, 09:18:43 PM »
rough translation from overseas site

The Konami Computer Entertainment Japan and the Nintendo had yesterday announced the development of "Silent Hill 5" for the new console of the Japanese company, the Revolution. Although all to believe that the new edition of this trailer of horror would arrive with exclusiveness for PS3, seem that the team of the Konami was seduced by the innovative control of the Revolution. According to Akira Yamaoka, producer of the series: "we are empolgados with the great possibilities of the new control. We believe that the series Silent Hill will give a great jump and the Revolution is the solution to materialize our innovative plans ". Silent Hill 5 will be launched with exclusiveness for Nintendo Revolution. The first images will be published, according to Yamaoka, during the Eletronic Entertainment Expo (E3) that it will happen in the month of May of 2006.

I remember this rumor stemmed back to a fools day joke on a Spanish site, their fools day was December 28 or something. Unless this is from something else.

Either way, I highly doubt it.

Very unlikely! Silent Hill 5 will more likely be a PS3 exclusive.

Although it would be nice to see Konami give the Revolution a bit more support with its more darker titles than frickin disney games.  Maybe Konami will do a spinoff game that uses the Silent Hill franchises (but still highly doubtful).

Putting that aside though.  Nintendo having a few spooky titles on it isn't totally unheard of.  Now I be shocked if they announced a first party one.

Unlikely.  However, if this did come true, I'd probably crap my pants.

After all, I almost did in Silent Hill 2 when you hear that guy's voice suddenly screaming in pain (when you're in that courtyard that is by the prison but for some reason is very deep underground) after putting the last plate down on the gallows where horse gallop steps are heard but no horses could possibly be around.

I didn't play 3 or 4, but I do feel this series is more scary than Resident Evil by far.  Though the Resident Evil series is overall more fun.

Silent Hill has incredible mood and atmosphere, but as a game, it really kind of sucks.

I want to play Silent Hill 2.  Looks wonderfully creepy.
I also desperately want a survival horror game on Rev, which would be a terrifying experience.  Silent Hill 5 might be interesting, as unlikely as it may be.

Silent Hill: Crystal Chronicals?

LOL

Last night, I saw the trailer for the 'Silent Hill' movie. I've never played the games, since they've yet to grace a Nintendo console, but the film looks like it could be good - unless they showed all of the good parts in the trailer (then it would probably suck).

There was that Silent Hill: Play Novel (or whatever it was called, I'm sure I'm close, though) for the Game Boy Advance, one of the first games for it, actually, but Japan-only.  Though that probably doesn't count, it was a "Choose Your Own Adventure", text-heavy recreation of the first game, if memory serves.

Series that aren't typically on Nintendo systems usually end up on the PC if they're big enough or good enough, which is where I usually play those third-party games.  This includes Silent Hill 2 and 4...not sure about 3, but probably.

Geez, it's like the Rev isn't even considered one of the new consoles.  That's a big problem Nintendo.  FIX IT!

Trading Resident Evil for Silent Hill would be going downward in my opinion but it would still be better than just losing RE.  Though I think it will just be losing RE outright.  I'm pretty much assuming that anything that was considered a "Playstation game" or "Xbox game" is going to remain so.  The Rev's third party support will be likely quirky brand new stuff and Nintendo just has to pray some of those catch on and become big.  I really doubt any major third party franchises are going to be Rev exclusive, at least not yet.

Unless Nintendo goes out there and literally FIGHTS for 3rd party support, they're not going to get it.

Furthermore, developers follow suit with whatever the host console tends to push for. If Nintendo would get off its ass and push some first party M-rated franchises, I'm sure we'd see more of them developed for Nintendo consoles. Same goes with online play: no one is going to make online games for Nintendo consoles until Nintendo shows enthusiasm for it first (which, thank god, they are).

(But then that's that whole "We are going to port everything good on the DC that was first party" thing too.)

PSO...and?

PSO is also on the Xbox and PC, and the future sequels will be on the PC. Sega is just throwing their franchises around, as usual.

Sounds unlikely, but who knows. I never thought we'd get RE or MGS and we saw these on GCN so anything is possible. I'm guessing a remake of one of the older Silent Hill games is more likely.

Here's hoping.

I don't make much of this rumor specifically, but I do think it's very likely there's going to be at least one 'Surprise! This big franchise is rev-exclusive now!' announcment come e3.

It's exclusive till the extra features are added to the other one.  Because we all now it won't look as good.

These rumours are as common as the air we breathe.

The Rev could use some darker exclusives tho in order to attract the core videogame demographic.
