GC online TO wipe the floor with XBOX live...?
« on: February 22, 2003, 07:35:14 PM »
well in gcz website it says that ANIMAL crossing 2 wil be the FIRST online game followed by MARIO KART(one of best multi out there) and prolly then SSB3 which will own all...

so my guess is that WITH only this 3 NINTENDO made games to be released (next yr MAYBE?) followed by other 3rd party GC wil RIP xbox live APART and their sucky ONLINE GAMES....do ya think so?

This thread is SO scheduled to be closed.  Nevertheless, I will provide my input.

If Nintendo shows up with some high profile online games of their own, coupled with some FPS type games from 2nd or 3rd parties, they will rule the North American online market.  Personally I don't think the online market is that big, but extra features certainly don't hurt a game.

The games are only half the battle, though- to really beat out XBox Live, Nintendo needs to provide an online service that is just as convenient and easy if not more so. That's one major plus for XBox Live- very little set up and very easy to use.

Good point mouse_clicker, but if Nintendo can make an online service just as or close to as easy and reliable Xbox Live is, Nintendo's games will blow Xbox's out of the freaking water. Mario Kart alone would be awesome....I just wish F-zero was online...and I wish I had broadband. The only game that will awesome on Xbox live though will be Halo 2...I can't wait till my friend gets that. JUST REVEAL AN ONLINE PLAN AT E3 NINTENDO so I can start begging my parents to get broadband in advance. (Not that I'm not already trying...but I'd take the persuading up a notch if I knew I could play Mario Kart online.)

Broadband is an average of $60.00/mo anywhere you go. (For the good connections.) Nintendo does need to make it easy to go online. But then again it was fairly easy to go online with the dreamcast.  Then they need a good balence of content and for that they need the support of the third party. Right now Xbox at least for the near future doesn't have all that many genres to choose from to go online. (That should change.)

I think Nintendo will make a pretty good showing with online. But it will not be all out.
Stupidity is lost on my. Then again I'm almost always lost.

The ultimate online game would be POKEMON! Any console with an online pokemon game is guaranteed to be one of the greatest selling consoles of all time.

I seriously doubt it. XBL is blowing away the PS2's online community. The GC won't be able to do better.

Guys, from what I hear, Jeff Minter's FPS for GCN will be online too and Sega is also working on an online title.  So that's at least 4 online GCN titles.  Is there any possible way that Nintendo will release some sort of voice chat?  I'm thinking that there are enough ports to have a headset plug into one.  We all should email NOA about that possibility.

$60 a month for broadband?!   I only pay half of that for my cable.  Don't tell me something is actually more affordable in Canada!  As for N Online, they should include a disc with the adaptors that has a bunch of online minigames.  Puzzle games like Tetris Attack (hell, just put Nintendo Puzzle Collection in there.), remakes of some NES games (online Balloon Fight would kick 31 flavours of ass), and other games simple enough so that it could all be free.
If I want realism I'll go outside.

without a head set it will be lacking the interaction of others that x-box has.

might as well be playing against a computer  without  that extra interaction.
