How Much Did You Spend For Christmas?
« on: December 29, 2005, 07:35:13 AM »
I was just doing some math in my head and I figured that I did really good this christmas as far as how much $$$ I spent out of my own pocket vs. what I actually gave for christmas.

I bought a DS for my mom ($140 after tax), but my sister paid for half (-$70)
then I got the Target $99 price match from Circuit City (-$40)
DS for mom = $30 out of my pocket
I get her a game $20

I buy my sister some car speakers (original price = $240)
Good Guys is going out of Sale so they are on sale for $155
But I get them for $79

My G/F wanted these expensive sunglasses from Nordstroms ($225+?)
But she game my $100 to go shopping with
another card gave $40
I took $20 from the bank
I repackaged it all and gave it back to her for her sun glasses ($160)

I know this all sounds really cheap, but I've been really busy at work and I work a swing shift so I didn't have all the time I wanted to go shopping
So all said and done, I spent $150 on $560 worth of stuff. Not bad if I say so myself

Hot damn, man.
Everyone I know wants fairly affordable stuff, so I broke even at about 100 or a little less than, but what you pulled off is pretty impressive.

So you got a $40 price break on your DS, but you pocketed it all instead of splitting it with your sister?  Cheap-skate.
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

I spent about four cents. I had to sell my TV and all my games for that, though. Also my pants. I hope to make good use of the lack of pants and figure out some way to make money with this current situation (of no pants).

Technically...nothing.  As of now, I have no steady form of income...so I just gave my friends things of mine I thought they'd like.

One got the first four volumes of GTO on VHS, another one got a small Puck figurine from Berserk and a manga I couldn't get into, another one got my old Japanese Slang dictionary, and I gave my other friend an old graphic novel of mine...Kling Klang Klatch, to be precise.

And oh!  I also gave them each an old school 70's kung fu flick from my collection that I never watch.

So...over all, adding what I spent on all these things over the years...I probably spent about $70-80 on Christmas.

I bought nothing game related for the first year since I received my NES.  I have considered WOW but I am afraid my PC can't do it.  Pretty much the game industry is selve serving and boring right now.   I got clothes, shoes, and The White Stripes.

From Christmas I would've had 62 to spend on stuff but tonight i went to my friend's party and they made me pay for dinner.

-$20

I spent 3+10+18+12+10=43. One of the gifts I transcribed my grandpa's autobiography he was working on and added pictures and stuff and put it in a binder, it was great.

Confirmed: Nemo doesn't have a DS.

Er...MJR, is your grandpa someone well known?  Or does he just take pleasure in writing about his whimsical adventures?

I am totally gonna write about my whimsical adventures when I get old.

Or, if and when I find a way to stay Eternally Young, I'll just start writing volumes every century or so.

Nah, he started it onto a tablet of paper when he was bored sitting around as a security guard several years ago. But the stories are very whimsical. If anyone here wrote one I would buy it 8)
