How to Make GameCube Dominant (a return to NES-style marketing)

Just click here

Reading this article makes you wonder if Nintendo is the same company.  They did what it took to make the NES dominant in the late 80's..... they should be following the same tactics now.

HOLY CRAP, Nintendo really went all out with the NES. It baffles me that now, when they have even more money than they did back then, they are advertising less???? Its stupid. They should be advertising like that now, especially since they have even more money than ever.

It would be quite foolish to revert back to those methods.  You are advocating the kind of things that people hate Microsoft for. Do you actually want there to be a game shortage? Nintendo doesn't have the monopoly, so in any case, it is impossible for them to use such tactics without shooting themselves in the foot.
Marketing however, is a different story.
All issues are political issues, and politics itself is a mass of lies, evasions, folly, hatred, and schizophrenia. (George Orwell, more relevant than ever, in "Politics and the English Language")

I think that the guy is WAAAAY off base on his information.  There is an element of truth to it, but it's told from a warped perspective.

I think you know the game I mean

Other than the blitz they did in New York to get the NES off the ground Nintendo wasn't very into, even back then, in Media advertising. I do remember some of the commercials especially the Zelda commericals (accually that is the only NES game commerical I can recall, I do remember of at least one commercial for the Power Pack (Power Pad+ System) and one for the the orginal set up with ROB.). But even then they didn't really go all out. The only time I remember Nintendo doing any type of mass advertising after the NES is before the launch of the SNES.
Stupidity is lost on my. Then again I'm almost always lost.

Add this discussion to the following thread. Again we don't need 4328904809745 threads on what people think Nintendo "needs" to do.
