Has anyone played this game? it's fun as hell. I am not coordinated enough to play DDR, so this was great for me. I already play guitar, so this was easy to pick up. Does any one else wish this to come to GC??

 Game of the Year

I've barley picked up a guitar in my life-time, but Guitar Hero is accessible from the get-go. I've played at various Best-Buys while I was waiting to try out the 360. Except I never got around to that, and just kept jammin' to "Iron Man"....

This is in-between Donkey Konga and DDR in terms of difficulty. It takes a while  to get the fingering down, but when you do, it is fantastic.

I smell a new franchise here. Maybe if Nintendo fans are good, we'll see a rev version? In the meantime, give this game a whirl.

You think Guitar Hero rocks, you should invest in a Japanese (or modded) PS2 and pick up Drum Mania and Guitar Freaks. I don't own a PS2 so I could be a little off on how they are named exactly (I just play it with my cousin). But you can play drums and two guitars at the same time. AND, one guitar can do the bass lines. Its awesome multiplayer stuff.

Its just a shame that the guitar for Guitar freaks doesn't work with Guitar Hero.

Trip report: awesome

I got it (on Christmas!) and I'm down to beating the last three face-melters on Expert. I recommend that pretty much everyone buy this game.

I agree: Guitar Hero is the pwnage. This may shock some, but I am a kind of shy, introverted kind of guy. I know, a guy who posts on video game forums, who would have thought. Anyways, after nailing my first solo, I could not help but get up and start headbanging and dancing around the room and doing many other things that I would never do under normal conditions. It's pricetag is a bit steep, but it's still a friggin bargain. Play it if you have ever listened to a rock and roll song and said "that's a good song."

Maybe confirmed Guitar Hero 2 song list minus 2 songs:

Opening Licks:
Strutter - Kiss
Mother - Danzig
Monkey Wrench - Foo Fighters
Shout At The Devil - Motley Crue
Tonight I'm Gonna Rock You Tonight - Spinal Tap

Amp-Warmers:
Heart Shaped Box - Nirvana
Message In A Bottle - Police
Woman - Wolfmother (artist not confirmed)
You Really Got Me - Van Halan (Kinks)
Carry On Wayward Son - Kansas

String Snappers:
Surrender - Cheap Trick
Them Bones - Alice in Chains
Search and Destroy - Stooges (artist not confirmed, but it damn well better be the stooges!)
Tatooed Love Boys - The Pretenders
War Pigs - Sabbath

Thrash and Burn:
Cherry Pie - Warrant
Who Was In My Room Last Night - Butthole Surfers
Girlfriend - Darkness (artist not confirmed), some say Mathew Sweet
Can't You Hear Me Knocking - Rolling Stones
Sweet Child of Mine - GnR

Return of the Shred:
Killing In The Name - Rage Against The Machine
John The Fisherman - Primus
Freya - Sword (artist not confirmed)
Bad Reputation - (too hard to say, my guess is Thin Lizzy, but could be Joan Jett)
Jessica - Allman Brothers

Relentless Riffs:
Crazy On You - Heart
Trippin On A Hole In A Paper Heart - STP
Rock This Town - Stray Cays
Last Child - Aerosmith
Stop - Janes Addiction (artist not confirmed, but I really hope it's Janes Addiction.)

Furious Fretwork:
Madhouse - Antrhax

Already confirmed songs:
Hangar 18 - Megadeath
Laid to Rest - Lamb of God
Misirlou - Dick Dale
Beast and the Harlet - Avenged Sevenfold
Freebird - Lyn Skyn
YYZ - Rush.
Psychobilly Freakout - Rev Horton Heat

Something about the organization of these songs seems wrong. I am slightly disappointed over no AC/DC and no Metallica. Plus I wish Jimmy Page woud give in and let us have some Zeppelin.

Wow Alice in Chains, GnR and Nirvana. Yeah I'll probably break down and get this. However I may wait and see if the 360 / Wii get anything over and above the PS2 version.

I am curious what the Wii (or IF) will be like.  I tried to figure a way of creating the game without the purchase of a guitar, and couldn't.  So I thought placing the controller somewhere on the Guitar would atleast let you move the guitar freely in the game...that could be cool.

OK, anyone have any ideas as to what the Wii controller should look like for Guitar Hero II? I mean, the PS2 has the SG and Flying V, the 360 is going to have the Explorer. If we continue with gibson, i think that the Wii should have a LP. If we go other guitar makers, maybe a Strat or a Tele

Yeah instead of getting a PS3, im gonna save up some money and purchase a PS2 with Guitar Heroes, Katamari, God of War, and about a list of 10-15 RPGs (seriously, oh and none of which will include FF crap).
