That has actually been done in "The Message", which recounts the history of Islam.  The directors were very limited because they weren't allowed to show or portray Muhammad (pretty much the focus of the story).  So when he had to be somewhere you were given his view of the situation and people would talk to him but he'd say nothing back.  That technique sucked.  FP just doesn't work long term in movies.

But like Kirby, F-Zero, and Sonic-X they will create some brand new character who would pretty much run the show because the others don't seem to have much personality.

The Mario RPG's show that you can make a very intertaining story out of the Mario Universe. I would love to see scenes with say 2 or 3 koopas in the back ground like "hey frank... whats up"? "Its that jerk Luigi again, everytime I turn around he jumps on me and takes my cape!!! I mean I didn't even look at him and he-he..."
And the other koopa pats his back and says " I know man, I know"

I'd rather see a Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter type Zelda. It would seem less fictional. Lord of the Rings was pure fiction, but for some reason it seemed real. Everything seemed plausible. That's exactly how Zelda should be.

Link should traverse through many different regions, and dialogue should be kept to a minimum. And when he visits a town....lets say he's in a bar or something (I know I know), a guy would come up and start blabbing at the mouth trying to make conversation. When asked a question (like Where you from stranger?), Link would simply look back at the man. The guy would see a struck a chord or something and shy away from asking any more questions like that and instead talk about some gossip that might prove useful. Link would have to talk at some point but he should still feel like the strong silent type.

Anyway, I don't know where I'm going with this....

Its the Dr Mario section of the magazine, the mailbag if you want. So it seems the Metroid movie was stopped by Nintendo themselves since they wanted to have more control over the movie and wanted the movie to be close to the original plot. First its the Metroid movie and later Zelda and Mario. It makes it sound like its going to be in the far far distant future though.

Though I don't want any N-franchise movie left to the likes of Uwe Boll, I don't really see how Nintendo's involvement would be that much of a plus.  They themselves say that they aren't concerned with story...  Miyamoto especially.

The fact that Ninty has an animation division in the works proves that they have (or will have) people that are concerned with scripting...

of course they arent concerned with story... for their games.

Maybe I exaggerated with the far distant future, they said they just have no idea when will the Metroid movie come along, that makes Zelda as an even more distant proyect.

In the latest news Club Nintendo has rectified and indeed Nintendo is not doing a Mario or Zelda movie... oops! The Metroid movie is still going though.

Does this have anything to do with the in-house animation studio?  I heard they were working on some film about Japanese poetry.

Anyway, I totally disapprove of this.  I think the games should stay games and they should make original films.

Who should play Link, Zelda, and Gannondorf?

Link-- Elijah Woods-- he may feel type casted though

Zelda-- use natural blonde unknown actress

the G man-- Liam Neeson-- anyone else and it will not work

Hostile: Yamauchi wanted to make a film of Japanese poetry, but I heard (this may be rumour) that while Nintendo agreed to the animation studio idea, it wanted to do something based on one of it's game properties instead.  It makes a lot more sense financially, although I agree that movies and games should be kept separate.
That's my opinion, not yours.

What about that kid from The Sixth Sense?  He was good.  As was the kid from Jerry McGuire.

Don't know who should star in a Zelda movie.

...but if they ever make an F-Zero movie, there's only one man who could play Captain Falcon: Bruce Campbell. Just thought I'd throw that out there.
