WHAA....Jack Thompson proposes a violent videogame.
« on: October 12, 2005, 04:17:24 AM »
Yes that headline says it all he proposed a violent videogame and he even donate $10,000 to the Take Two chairman. Prepare to laugh at the hilarious insanity .

As of now I'm officially speachless, Jack must be begging for attention now but this one is the icing on the cake.

I just think it'd be hilarious if the climax of the story reveals that the main charcter is really Jack Thompson.

Actually, there's an even better climax to the story posted over at the gamesarefun.com (see original link above).

Sounds good, then at the end, when he is captured, they can show how there was never a son. At least not a son that was killed. Instead, his son had commited suicide because as a teenager, he was going thru a lot of changes and things that seemed mayor for him.

But his father was never around, he was always at work. His father was a Lawyer and spent all the time in the office. So slowly the son fell into a deep depression that resulted with him taking his own life.

The kid left a note. The note read "By the time you find this, I'll probably be dead. When mom had to leave us, I needed you more than ever, but you locked yourself in your work and left me here to die. Well, I hope you are happy. I'll be with mom now"

The man then started to loose it. While looking around the room he saw a few video games. In his pain and despair, his mind locked video games with his sons death. He started going crazy, playing the games his kid had. Until finally he lost it.
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

I'd buy a freaking PS3 AT LAUNCH, first in line, for five hundred bucks, and with pennies if I had to, just to play this game.

Now let's see who has the balls to make it.

EDIT: Not because I want to take down the industry, but because I love the sound of my own laughter.

"I really wish EA or someone would make that game just to piss him off."

Not really, he'd just use it as another example. He just wants a videogame where "even the videogame developers themselves admit to its effects! What more proof do you need?"

It looks like Mr.Thompson can dish it out but can't take it. Check the link Lord_die-Sies put up. Its been updated with 'interesting' reports. Here's a snippet.

Hello Jack. My name is Richard Brownell, the owner of this site. It has come to my attention that you have threatened legal action against Ash, the author of this article. While I'm sure Ash is pleased as peach about this, you probably know as you are a lawyer that this is not the proper way to go about this. Ash is a freelance volunteer who does not work for GAF and is under no contract for his work here. As such, he really doesn't bear any legal responsibility for anything posted here. Plus, even if he was an employee, the appropriate action would still be against the sole proprietor, partner, or corporation before an individual employee.

Looks like Mr.Thompson can't take a good ribbing...

There is one group already making a Jackass Thompson spoof game for GTASA, they're planning to implement the ideas Thompson proposed there. I bet there are at least five other teams working on that game right now. Rockstar is probably considering it, too.

a guy on the ign boards (who is an employee of a game dev compnay in finlnd) has made the game jack proposed.  it is remarkable they were able to get the file size of the entire game so small with all the content in it. you can find the game here http://ign.pelikaruga.com/, its called JackThompson.exe.  don't worry, it is safe to download, i and many others have done it already.

Looks like the legal crap subsided.

Quote

So, as far as I can tell, there is no longer anything even questionably illegal. Unlike actual GAF articles that the staff has written, I'm not willing to risk getting fired from my "real job" to take time out of work to fight Jack in court over somebody's comment about killing him. So do try to keep the killing comments to a minimum. Remember, you're proving Jack right by expressing a desire to kill him. Just express your distaste for him and move on.

Its a shame its come down to this, but the Admin's gotta do what the Admin's gotta do. Is Mr.Thompson really that scared that some nerd is going to do a drive-by on his house? C'mon now...

Any one try Berto's link? Impressions? Anybody?

Wow. Does this classify as rabid 'in-fighting'? Read the letters posted at GAF. Mr.Thompson's is content in his delusions of grandeur. Here are a couple clips...

Quote

It may be that because you raise money for your organization you understand the needs of fundraising, but to take money from the ESA is to take blood money.

Wow, ESA has some mob connections? You learn something new everyday...

Quote

I know you get money from people connected with these folks, David, but you do know that Best Buy is presently pre-selling, to adults and to children, the Columbine simulator game, Bully?

So Rockstar changed their entire game design to re-create a gruesome day in Littleton, Colorado? Where's Gamespot and IGN on this?..

Quote

While you have been giving report cards on a bunch of sociopaths, the violent games have been getting more violent.

Mr.Thompson is a clinical Psychiatrist? He's diagnosed that the ESA and Co. are mentally unstable? I should start calling him Dr.Thompson!

Quote

It would be better if we had no system, and then parents would not have been fooled for more than a decade into thinking that the system was actually protecting their kids.

So some protection is worse than no protection? Hey lets all not wear sunscreen since its not strong enough!

Quote

Liberals, like you, love to label things and then think that the labeling has accomplished something. If that had been the case, then Churchill's calling Hitler a Nazi would have ended the war. But no, people like me had to get into the trenches and stop the Nazis. And there were always those tut-tutting back home about what a nasty business it is to stop the bad people, and can't we all just "get along."

Now he starts sticking labels to people. He's talking about combating inappropiateness, yet this paragraph can be interpreted as very offensive.

Quote

I have been dismayed by your being on both sides of the fence, because it undercuts your credibility.

If you're not with me, you're against me?

I wonder if other organizations and politicians will start to isolate themselves from 'Dr.'Thompson?

I highly doubt that, but in the next GTA game I think we can expect a subtle slash at him, like they do for some games. Like the "True Grime: Street Cleaners" billboard.
