I couldn't agree more.  Nintendo WiFi is about to get a big boost and a larger on-line community.  I wonder if the Nintendo website will now add a new section for online play to their on AC newspaper -- "The Crossing Guardian"...I think that's the name.

HEY DUDES

Reporting a bit on WiFi here.  Officer Copper walks you through everything you need to do, so getting online is simple.  It seems that you can't get in or out of another town when other people are having a conversation at that very moment, but usually you can immediatley retry and get right in.

The actual online gameplay is pretty limited.  NPC villagers stay in their houses, and a couple reports say that no more than two characters can be in the same building at the same time, but I haven't tried that out.  Chatting is limited to one line at a time, means that you'll often be reading half a sentace while the player types out the second half.  You can talk from anywhere in the village and everyone can see it, but you can only see two lines at a time, and there are no chat logs, which means that you'll often miss something someone said.

You CAN buy and sell at Nook's, visit the museum (but no donating!  Yay!), and shop at the Ables' place (I don't think you can create in another town though).  You can also post on their bulletin board and stuff.  It's completely  smooth and lag free.  There have been reports of connection errors and stuff, but I haven't encountered any.

Anywho, it's pretty fun, but a little more limited than what I would have liked (although, there's only so much you'd be able to do in another town anyway...).  But there's still plenty of potential for awesome happy fun, it's just you have to be a little more creative

KN I HATE YOU!

That said, thanks for the early impressions.    What happens if one of the visitors start chopping down all your trees?  Do you have the power to boot people at any time?

When you say the animals stay in their houses, players can still go into the houses to talk to them right?

Can you trade/sell items with other players in real time when they are visiting?

I'll probably have more questions... but thanks in advance for  your answers, you lucky sonofa-...

Also:

I hope these limitations as well as the limitations in Mario Kart will bring some gamers' heads out of the clouds.  This is part of the reason Nintendo was hesitant to go online in the first place.  It is not yet possible to achieve the years-in-the-making multiplayer love Nintendo has given us in the past in the online realm.  The tech just isn't there.

Pale:  Yep, you can still talk to the animals.  You can also send letters to them once you've met them Also, you DO have the power to boot out jerks.  Trading would be done by dropping/picking up items, so a quick bandit could potentially steal it, but I don't think that'll happen  I don't think you can sell anything to other people though....however, there is a Flea Market Day where you can put prices on the items in your house and have people buy them, but I'm not sure if you can do that over the Connection.  I'm leaning towards "yes."

I was in CraigIGN's town just now and I tried to trap him in a circle of holes while he was out, but he came back before I was done.  Circle-trapping could be deadly to people without shovels'

"Hey, can I borrow your shovel, I promise to give it back!"
"Okay, sure ju- wait, wah, oh no stop!"

With two other guys on your side, you could easily shovel-ambush the fourth guy before he can do anything about it!

From deep within my socks!

Actually, stupid old Nintendo apparently thought of this and gave everyone the ability to kick in dirt even if they have no shovel.  Fission Mail'd =(

Congrats, KN, I a insanely jealous.

Anyone catch the commercial? It has people, in a town, and the people have cgi animal heads. It's....weird.

how many players can you have in your town at once? i know that you can have four per house (which i assume means four local on one cart) but what about over the net?

My guide just came in yesterday along with my dongle from Nintendo's online store. The first AC game was absolutely hands down awesome, but I didn't have the guide. Now I got the guide ahead of time so that I can save myself from the stress of worrying about everything I didn't know about the game, and so I know what songs to request from K.K.

Here's hoping this game is attached to my hip for the next 3 months.

I strongly believe that a guide ruins Animal Crossing, but that's just me.

And also, the dialougue in this game is LOADS better than in the GC version, I've been lolling.  I am in love with this game right now.

So this comes out tomorrow, Dec. 5th? I'm going to try to find it then, but probably won't be able to track it down till Tuesday.

What's the deal with Nintendo releasing the two biggest games so close? There aren't enough hours in my day for both Mario Kart and Animal Crossing. I may have to quit sleeping.

So has anyone (besides lucky bastards and staff members ) found a copy yet?

I've called my local wal-mart and best buy and had no luck.  I'm still trying to get through to toys r us...

Seems the in store on the ship date trend that Mario Kart started won't keep going... at least not in my area.

Do not fear the guide. It is little more than an extensive item/furniture/texture/character list and model preview, along with being a more indepth preview of all the game systems at work.

With a game like Animal Crossing, the best things can't be spoiled, they can only be lived.
