Last week had to be one of the worst weeks for gaming in a long time:

There may have been something else I missed, but last week was pretty sh*tty on the gaming front. Hopefully this week with the good DSness coming and the slight chance of learing how to "expand what gaming is", we'll get a better week.

Not negative just to be negative, more from just being disappointed that's all. Never saw the Advance Wars commercial. Zelda delayed and no news on the Revolution, for whatever reason, just hurts. Couple that with the other things that I mention and I don't really have too many good things to say about last week. I have nothing to say about Geist. Sh*tty week in my book.

I wouldn't consider your DS breaking as "news".  That's too bad but it's not news.

No Revolution news isn't bad news either.  It's not like some big news conference was announced and Nintendo heavily implied that the Rev would be revealed and then it wasn't.  I am expecting some news this month but I wasn't expecting anything for last week.  When Nintendo announces a big news conference or something and then reveals nothing then we can get upset.

I would still consider this a lousy week for news though just because that Zelda thing.  The rest of the stuff is pretty minor but the Zelda delay is REALLY bad.  It could be one of those events people look back on as a crucial reason for the Revolution flopping.  People might regard it as the breaking point where a large amount of Nintendo fans just gave up and bought the new Xbox 360.  It's not every day you get potential historical disaster news.

The X360 thing is bad in a way too but it was largely expected which made it less terrible.  The Zelda thing came out of nowhere.  One day we're all happy and looking forward to Zelda and the next we're questioning Nintendo's future.  Plus I'm a Nintendo fan.  I think this 360 stuff is good news.  The higher price may help the Rev.

The GBA Micro stuff was bad too.  Eh, this was a pretty bad week.  The E3 Rev no-show plus Micro debut press conference probably annoyed me more though.

Jesus christ, is the rest of you life this overly dramatic?  "One day I was all happy looking foward to some toast, but I burned it, and now I'm questioning the future of my toaster.  This could be the breaking point where I never eat toast again."

No one eill ever know what the effects of this delay will be.  No matter what it sells, you'll see people saying that it sold more because it was better, and people saying that it could have sold better without the delay.  Would Wind Waker have done better with realistic graphics?  Nobody knows!  I could argue that it would have sold worse, and I have the same amount of proof that you do.  Same with the Rev- if it bombs, who's to say it had anything to do Zelda whatsoever?

If I only had like six meals to last me the rest of the year then yes burning toast would be a big deal.  It's not just Zelda being moved it's that fact that it's the big holiday Cube release being delayed in a year with a very slim release schedule.  It's not Zelda itself that's the problem.  It's the big hole in the holiday release schedule that is occuring around the same time that a brand new non-Nintendo console is launching.  This could have a huge effect on Nintendo's future.  If too many bored Cube owners jump ship then Nintendo loses a huge chunk of potential Rev sales and considering how unpopular Nintendo is in the console market right now they need those Rev sales early on.  And Nintendo's on a very short leash.  They don't sell Revs like hotcakes early on and third parties and thus gamers aren't going to give them a chance.  It's like one f*ck up on the Rev and it's finished.  Nintendo wasted all of there "screw up for free" cards on the Cube and N64.

The big factor in all this is what the Rev actually is.  If it really impresses then Cube owners might be willing to put up with another year or so of bullsh!t to get the Rev.  But that's a huge gamble and Nintendo really has to deliver.  Hopefully we'll find out soon but the Rev debut is the most important Nintendo event in years.  They HAVE to nail this one.  Even an okay show isn't going to cut it.  It's blow everyone away or nothing.  There is no room to leave any doubts in peoples' minds.

I don't think I've ever seen you happy.  At least not on these boards.  Super Mario Bros 3 was delayed.  Looking back, do you really care?  No, bacause to this day it's an awesome game.  Halo 2 was rushed out before it was ready in order to make a holiday release.  Did it sell?  Yes.  In five years will anyone still care about Halo 2?  Not many.

I don't really know if SMB3 was delayed.  I made that up.  It might have been.[/spolier]

SMB3 was intentionally delayed an extra year in North America to build hype.  But this was the NES.  It's not like there was ever a shortage of great games coming out.  That's why it didn't matter.  There was nothing riding on SMB3.  It was just a guaranteed seller on a console that dominated the market from a company that could do no wrong.  Times have changed.

FFXII is delayed.  Does it matter much?  No, because it's on the PS2.  If you can't get FFXII for Christmas it's no big deal because you can just buy one of the other 10 or so games released that week alone.
