They like porting games alot or putting them on compliations or modifying it. Afterall they are porting like 5 PSone games to the PSP.

You know what, I could actually see this working given that they use a 64MB or higher card.  I've never been big on the series, but at least for all the fans of the game I'm exited for it anyways.

The source is questionable but assuming it's reliable, this coming to the DS and not the PSP which would "seem" to be the more appropriate platform for the game means at least one of two things:
1) Capcom has some truly ingenius ideas involving the DS's exclusive features that will set this apart from all other RE games.
2) Nintendo and Capcom have a renewed deal to keep RE games exclusive on Nintendo platforms which could mean RE5 being exclusive on the Revolution (at least for some time, like RE4). REmake, RE0, and RE4 actually sold well if not exceptionally well on the GCN so it's not out of the realm of possibility.

If it was an entirely new RE, then it would matter, but it's a port, so really, it's insignificant even if they do that.

It wouldn't be a port, it would be new, because i've never played Resident Evil with Resident Evil 4 controls/camera on a DS before.

I hope this news is true, can't wait to see what it looks like. Though I really think this would be better suited to a console...

I dunno guys I was immediately thinking of how the mic would incorporate with a thriller game.  I thought, perhaps when your cornered in a room full of zombies, and your partner is in another room, maybe you have to scream and they would come running into the rooms to help you out.  I am not a huge fan of the series, they usually end up frustratingly hard for me, at least the ones on the gamecube did.  I havent tried out 4 cuz i know im gonna crap in my pants, maybe a portable version would keep me at bay tho.

Do we really need another reiteration of Resident Evil?  How about a remake of RE2 or RE3?
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

"maybe you have to scream and they would come running into the rooms to help you out."

Bad idea if you have to scream to play that if you playing outside you look crazy and freak out every one near you.

Or you could use the mic to shout "Holy ****, what the **** is that????" and while the zombies turn to look you can run the other direction. Or at the very least have it recognize "Stay" and "Follow" commands. You could use buttons to make her stay and follow, but they could make the verbal commands avaliable as an option.
EDIT: I just read that they are remaking the original RE... with 4's camera. Forget the second half of what I posted and replace it with something clever.

I don't think zombies would listen to voice commands anyway...

How credible is the source magazine, NGC?

Because this announcement, while nice for the DS, just doesnt seem to make sense as a game. Survival horror on a handheld? Fully 3D on the DS, as opposed to the PSP? Touch screen puzzles...of course.

I'll beleive this once a source we can all readily trust confirms by going directly to Capcom...

In regards to RE4, the game was not scary... UNTIL you are on the Island at the end and go in doors, then it gets scary pretty quick. "Oven guy" made me run for cover.

Um...hello.

Just because you don't find something scary doesn't mean someone else will.

Personally, I found RE4 to be rather scary.  It's intense and managed to make me very jumpy for at least a few months. Plus, they only resorted to cheap scares a few times in the game, as evidenced by Oven Man.
