Well, probably "just because" nobody really seems to care about the game itself.

Yeah, they could have spent the time and money on something better, like the fifty cents for the HD support.

Or maybe they realise they need a European Football game and that putting out two American Baseball ones isn't really necessary.

"Mario baseball and this game releasing around the same time proberly made nintendo think that this title would flop, so there pushing it back"

I have a feeling in this situation NOA and NCL didn't know what the other was doing.  NOA set up Pendent Chase and NCL setup Mario Baseball.  Then they found out what they were doing and "sh!t''.

No one is really interested in Pendent Chase anyway and the main reason for that is because Nintendo fans don't really care much about sports games and Nintendo is releasing this late in the Cube's life when only Nintendo fans are still buying games.  It doesn't help that Nintendo already had a "false start" at attempting a sports line on the N64.  They didn't really put enough effort into it and we remember that.

I think it's a good idea for Nintendo to have their own sports line but they have to put in some serious effort and they have to launch these games at the right time.  The Rev launch is a good time because at that point the userbase is largely undefined.  A Cube sports game won't sell because sports gamers don't own Cubes.  But by having an exclusive sports line on the Rev right from the get go they can attract sports gamers early on so that the games will have an audience to sell to.

The first year of a console is the most important since that early period defines the console.  It determines what genres and styles the console will be associated with.  So that's the time to release the games that grab people who normally wouldn't show interest in a Nintendo console.

Given the current licensing scheme for MLB, Nintendo will clearly be coming out with MLB baseball games for the next 5 years.  My guess: they started developing this when the new licensing agreement was in the works (knowing they would only have 1 other game to compete with); when it wasn't ready by a reasonable date, they decided to have it come out next year instead.

Honestly... everyone who was going to buy a baseball game has probably bought one by now.  I don't think PC was sufficiently differentiating itself from the competition.

Just adopt the Cubs' motto: there's always next year.

Mario Baseball really killed this one for me.  Nintendo can occassionally get me interested in traditional sports games since I'm such a big fan of the rest of their games, but put a traditional baseball game up against Mario or any other wackier, fantasy based baseball game, and the fantasy game will almost always get my money.
That's my opinion, not yours.

Bingo. They may not attract Nintendo fans who don't play sports games, but if Nintendo puts an honest effort in say a realistic baseball, hockey, or basketball (No sense in making a football game, EA's got that covered) so that it can compete with MS, Sony, even EA, they can get a new legion of fans.

Wishful thinking no doubt, but if they could just give the 2k series a run for its money, imagine the possibilities...

Also, that would require for them to believe their own PR: Being an AND company. They just recently stumbled on that statement

Yea - I really want a decent hockey game to play on a Nintendo console - even though I don't like it one bit I play the EA versions of NHL, because the 2K series aren't on the Gamecube. However, Nintendo has tried baseball and basketball before, but never hockey, so I don't think it will happen.

Well i held out on a baseball game because of Pennant Chase from Nintendo. I even pre ordered the game four months ago. It blows but i guess ill just switch the preorder to Prince of Persia 3. Im more of an adventure gamer anyway. So ill guess ill wait for Next gen to pick up a baseball game. Hopefully ill stick with nintendo and Pennant Chase will be on the Rev.
