I'd like to know why the moderators closed this thread. You have a newbie here asking questions about GameCube, but instead of encouraging him to join the Nintendo crowd, you close off his topic and CENSOR him. NOT FRIENDLY. So, what's the deal mods? I don't get it?

- Buy Zelda: the Wind Waker for $50 and get Zelda: Ocarina of Time free (while supplies last)

Other "must-have" games worth getting are Pikmin, Eternal Darkness.

For multiplayer, once you're done with Metroid and Zelda, you should definitely get Super Monkey Ball 1 and/or 2, Super Smash Bros Melee, and Beach Spikers($10 at Best Buy).

Harsh though it may seem, the rules are there, even if not everyone understands the details behind polling. The real problem is that questioning these matters is supposed to be held in private message with the mods, and not on the main board.

Oi. I really need to go over the rules more thoroughly. I could get technical/political and defend closed threads by babbling about the 1st amendment but I'm assuming the disclaimer at the bottom of the page that says "all your posts are belong to us" and "Your use of the Planet GameCube Forums is contingent upon your agreeing to abide by the rules"
prevents me from doing so (even though I have no intention to do so, the rules are fair) Maybe you (theaveng) should edit your thread so the mods wont see it and there won't be the potential for you to be banned. Just a reminder, I am not trying to offend anyone, forum user or forum mod, with this post, nor am I trying to be condescending towards theaveng or the mods in any way shape or form. Nor am I trying to tell any mods how to do their job. This is just a quick thought and suggestion to keep the peace. Can't we all just get along?"

TRUE, give the people a chance, the mods really exxagerate sometimes. Its not like world peace depends on this board, so maybe they can be a little more relaxed sometimes. Ive seen countless stupid threads recieve several hundred posts but some legitimate questions slightly violating the forum rules from noobs always get locked immideately.

If you are joking you should clarify it as so Gamer Donkey. Its very hard to pick out the difference between sarcasm and antaganism from typed text. Trust me. I think Rick is just tired of locking so many threads, because he's locked A LOT, yet each one he locked he rightfully did so. You may think its harsh, but its ALL in the rules. I actually read ALL of the rules (even found some spelling mistakes too, but that besides the point) so I know. In fact, this whole thread is against the rules. Now remember, this is not to be taken offensively, its just a word of advice. I am not trying to talk down to anyone, or do any of the mod's job. I'm just trying to help out a fellow forum member. (I really should just put something along those lines in my signature, huh?)

I'm new here too, and I find the rules excessive. I see why they exist, but too much is too much. It's a forum after all. Just my opinion. And don't tell me crap about if I don't like the rules I can go somewhere else. I know that.

I was just trying to be humorous, and I mean no offense either when I say that I too have read the rules and in an earlier post mentioned that reposting something locked is grounds for banishment. I agree with the strict rules, I hate going to a board and getting needlessly cussed out. But I reiterate that unless I clearly state so, I will not porpusely(misspelled) offend someone.

Here's my $.02. Everyone here seems to think that Rick does nothing but ban people the first time they do something wrong. It is not like that at all. He gives people plenty of chances before putting a ban on people. And he doesn't close threads just because he likes to close threads. He will usually give an explanation on why he closes them (unless it is totally obvious why it is being locked).

I, for one, like the tough rules that are in this forum. It keeps a lot of the crap out of here. If you want to post a bunch of garbage, go somewhere else. Have you ever seen the forum at ign? Yikes, talk about a nightmare.

So I would say to theaveng, don't take it personally. Just e-mail Rick and see what was wrong. It's not that difficult. PlanetGameCube has, by far, the best forums of any gaming site. Period. Just follow the rules and you will be very happy here.

atariage.com, lemon64.com, psxnation.com are all better forums. You can create polls, ask dumb newbie questions like "What's a 51 card?", or ask "What do you think about...?" without getting locked. WHY? Because the moderators on those forums are not anal. They let you exercise your free speech with only two restrictions: No curse words... no insults.

Here at gamecube.com, there are so many restrictions that it's nearly impossible to start a topic without violating one of them. The excessive rules stifle conversation and defeat the purpose of having a forum.

Dude, just shut your dumb mouth alright? First off, yes I imagine that posting at gamecube.com would be hard if your surfing PLANETGAMECUBE. Second, therules are there because there are so many people here everyone would be cloggin up the form with questions irrelevant to the whole community.

Remeber spoke, the needs of the manyt come above stupid questions and dumb people who dont wanna follow good rules.

And the reason no polls are allowed is so there are no idiotic arguments about how so-and-so game is better than yours. Or the constant PS2 vs GC and Xbox vs GC wars.
