SCEE, go fornicate yourself! Say what you want about NoE but they are still better than SCEE. No Katamari*, no Xenosaga*, no God of War, PSP 9 months late...
250 Euros == 325 US Dollars. Plus game (60 Euros, 78 US Dollars). Go fornicate yourself, Sony.

*= If you're saying that's Namco's job, if this was NoE they'd have offered porting the games to PAL themselves.

The PSP, despite having an arguably better lineup of games than the DS, us underperforming in sales and a lot of that has to do with the insanely high price.  So I think it's completely idiotic for Sony to continue with this high price in Europe especially after they delayed the Europe launch to accomodate non-existent North American demand.  They pissed Europe fans off with that move and they're not going to win them back with the strategy that's NOT working in North America.

Ditch all the extra junk and lower that damn price.  The current plan isn't working so rethink things and start off fresh.

Of course I don't actually want Sony to do this.  I don't really want them to succeed but it would be nice for them to provide enough competition to light a fire under Nintendo's butt because close competition makes for better products for us gamers.

I wouldn't call 600k-plus PSP's a non-existant market. The PSP is no N-gage I won't be surprised if they hit 1 million by early summer. But I agree that the price is just too steep at this time.  Where's the super-killer app that's worth the price of entry? Lumines is awfully tempting, but its not packaged in. Oh well, I guess pack-ins are a thing of the past...

KDR_11k, how much is an average for a game over there? Does it depend on the country, or do they adopt a standard price if they're in EU (Assuming that has any revelancy?)?

I'm not sure, some remote countries apparently have higher prices and I haven't been everywhere but 60 Euros is the average price of a console game at retail, GBA games are 40-45 and PC games 35-45. I was simply assuming 60 Euros per game since Sony won't lower prices, they think we're so used to being overcharged they can ask the same price. Of course they'll be right because there's millions of people who don't know a game can cost less than 60 but it still sucks. OTOH perhaps the PSP will bomb unless they find some easy, affordable piracy measures for it. Germany is the second largest den of porn and warez in the world, after all.

Yeah, right now it is a bit unfair to compare US prices to Euro prices.  When you crunch the numbers there it sounds crazy to guys in the U.S., but the Euro is simply stronger than the dollar and the cost of living is higher if you think about it in foreign currency.  Of course, Sony isn't based in Europe, so I'm not sure if the higher price was needed.

60 Euros for a console game is still outrageous considering we pay ~40 for PC games (and get them with almost no delay for translation). Same for 45 for GBA games.
