NES Remake??
« on: April 11, 2005, 05:21:51 PM »
I know that a bunch of asian companies have done it, but who would buy a american made system that would play original NES games w/o the adapter needed to play NTSC on a PAL system

I am in the process of seeing if a local game shop will bring these in for sale.  I am looking to pick up one as my NES died and I still have lots of working games.  I just don't want to pay the crazy shipping rates involved with this product, and the one place that I found that has low shipping rates does not ship to Canada

Not too sure it it is made in Asia or not, but according to the site you don't need a 60 to 72 pin converter to play the North American games.  Just plug them in and start playing.  Here is the link

Does anyone have any reviews as to the reliability of this unit, or the site for that matter? This looks so cool, that if they are reliable, i will be buying one this summer so I can play old-school tetris again (And I have the tengen version too!!)

I have yet to find any reviews on this system as it is so new, but from what I hear eStarland.com is pretty reliable, I was all set to order from them but that idea got shot down as they do not ship to Canada unless you are a wholesaler, which is why I am in the process of trying to get a local game shop to order a few.  If I do end up picking one up I will be sure to post a review.

why don't the 2 of you go in together and get 2 of them at a discounted price
Quote

Buy 1 at $39.95 - shipping = $8.00
Buy 2 - 4 at $31.96 (20% off) - shipping = $11.00
Then the one of you that lives in America (assuming one of you live in America) can ship it to the other in canada.

You'll both save $8.00 apiece on the on the hardware and $2.50 apiece on the shipping.
The only questioning factor left no is can you trust each other to come good on your end of the deal?
