April Fools? FF7?
« on: April 01, 2005, 11:45:16 AM »
Check out the news here  Seems like one of the allegedly 5 FF7  (yes count them 5) sequels will be for the DS.  Called FF7EC  I found this story on rpgamer.com whos usually a pretty accurate gaming news site.  But then again all of it could be false because today is April the 1rst.  Screenshots were also included which didnt exactly look like the proportions of the retangular Ds screen that is usually associated with the system.  The screens on the other hand looked very similar to the FF7 cellphone games that have been leaking out in japan montly.  Meh never finished FF7 so I am not a huge fan of the series just thought I'd drop this one by tiy guys.

1) The "news" that Sakaguchi bought SE is hilarious...
2) Shonen Jump came out like a day or two ago and it wasn't reported then...

RPGamer pulled a similar "prank" a few years back by saying and posting pics of FFVII for the GBA.

FF7 for the DS would be interesting... you can use the microphone to whine back at Cloud when he complains about how bad his hair is.

Sorry, but I'm afraid this is fake.

And don't ever crush my hopes like that again.

I square fully supporting the DS and not the PSP? I read that some where but I don't know if it's true or not.

This has been confirmed by RPGamer to have been a joke.

They had two jokes, one being that Sakaguchi had conducted a hostile takeover and was back in charge of Square, and two, that this "FF7:EC" was announced for the DS.

The first joke was okay, but the second one was lame in that it was completely reasonable, except for the one small reference to the "SquareEnix takeover" that was included in the story.

How was that lame?  My favorite April Fools jokes are the ones that are the most reasonable because it really makes ya think.  The ones that are blatently fake suck because you can tell its not true a mile away.  The point of the day is to FOOL you.
Mr. Madison, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you n

Making it "reasonable" is too easy. Anyone can lie. That's not deep.

You're supposed to make it unreasonable, and then try to be as convincing as possible about delivering it (without actually saying something like "I swear this isn't an April Fools Day joke, please believe me"). Then you say "Ha ha! I can't believe you fell for something so obvious."

The stupider it is, the more value it has (assuming that it works).

Absolutely, anyone can say "hey look, a deer on the side of the road, OMG you looked you n00b!?!?!?111"
Take Google for instance. One year they had a very through and convincing job opening on their new lunar facility (i.e. the moon). Obviously they don’t have any plans to make a search engine on the moon, but it was so through that some people still believed it. This year they advertised a new drink that alters your brain chemistry(Google Gulp). Anyone can just lie, but it takes wit to replace your homepage with a fake eBay site selling Ms. Pacman’s bowtie (zeBay).

Edit: almost forgot, Apple's answer to the PSP: The gPod

The FF7 for GBA thing came out a little sooner than my little joke I made awhile ago was complete, otherwise I would have supported the whole joke about FF7GBA.. with this:

FF7GBA sound demo

It was all made with legitimate GBA sound software, too.. I actually fooled someone into thinking that I had FF7 on GBA, it was great..
