"That's not what I'm hearing. Wario Ware is being called "uninspired" compared to the first game and is generally considered to be inferior to the forthcoming Wario Ware: Twisted, which is already out in Japan. "

Well, if we had the stream of games that Japan's getting, I think the DS would hold its ground fairly well.   I'm going to be importing so many DS games, it isn't funny.  Kirby or Electroplankton is probably next.

The PSP never really interested me.  It never had any draw to me, it never really impressed me.  Something about it seems so "meh", it just seemed normal.  I mean, over the past year or so video games have been getting repetive to me, and the PSP was just kinda icing on the cake.  But the DS was new and different, very different.  Great games are here and coming.  The PSP just doesn't intrest me, and if it did I couldn't afford it.  I could barely afford the DS with the kind of money I make(none).

Also crazy idea here, what if Nintendo is purposly not really showing the DS off in a crazy unique way.  Then all of a sudden BLAMMO! we get hit right between the eyes with something crazy cool and unbelievable.  That's just ramblings though.

The fact of the matter is that I don't want a PSP, and I probably never will.
It may be simple, but it ain't easy.

"The general public can not be expected to resort to importing games to buffer a weak US lineup, so I don't consider that an option."

Exactly.  What was the last console released in America where importing was essential?  The Saturn.  Considering what happened to Sega shortly after that's got to be one of the worst systems to have similarities to.

I think the key mistake everyone is making is that they're thinking of these portables as though they were consoles. In all likelyhood, a DS or a PSP will be someone's secondary choice of gaming. They don't need to buy a game for it every month, because they're spending most of their gaming on a console. I don't see the DS's library as being a permanent problem. Yes, it sucks that we have to wait for these games to come out, but they WILL come out. And it's not going to destroy the DS in the process. There are about a couple hundred games lined up for the DS at the moment. Is anybody actually worried that third parties are going to jump ship just because the DS will continue to go through a drought for a couple more months? I'm not. And if there is indeed a new Dragon Quest game in development for the DS, then Nintendo will have won this whole "handheld wars" hands down.

As for the PSP, the main thing I don't like about it is that it has no purpose for me. It brings near console quality graphics to a portable, but with a weak battery life, it nearly defeats its own purpose. I have no interest in its multimedia capabilities, either. And though the PSP may have more variety than the DS at the moment, that almost certainly wont be the case in the future. The DS already has a ton of RPGs lined up for the future, while the PSP only has a handful. I'm guessing it's a battery issue. And then there are games like RTS and FPS that are naturally suited for the DS.

The games DO matter, they are what customers are looking for, and to a player that isn't already a hardcore Nintendo nut that will automatically choose Nintendo products over anything else then the PSP looks pretty good right now.  And the DS has been available for four months.

I was lenient on the DS launch line-up because I hoped Nintendo would use it as an opportunity to prevent the traditional games drought in the first quarter-to-half of this year.  Frankly, the launch lineup sucked, and the game drought still came.    Given what's at stake, Nintendo should have released Jam With the Band a long time ago, and it should have had at least one of Metroid Prime DS, Mario Kart DS or Animal Crossing DS ready to fight the PSP launch.  The PSP is coming out completely uncontested by any new DS game release!  That's ridiculous.

I still think Nintendo will ultimately offer the better handheld experience and I'm planning to buy a shiney new DS to hug and to love forever and ever this very weekend. But speaking objectively I think the PSP launch lineup looks equal to or greater than the DS lineup, which is pretty scary since Nintendo had four months to build it up.
That's my opinion, not yours.

Hey Rick, Gameinformer breaks down how to put movies on the PSP (Followed by numerous disclaimers)

PSP Movies 101

The big N may be bragging about its 2.8 Million DS's, but with 1 million PSP's ready for U.S launch, they're about a little over a third of the way there. Will they sell each and every one of them out? We'll see after a week or so after this writing.

Remember on the console side, Xbox was slightly behind at the beginning vs the 'Cube, only to overtake it holiday season '02. After that, they didn't look back.  Nintendo's saving grace was Xbox's dismal prescence in Japan. The price drop to 99 USD offered a surge, but didn't close the gap.

The real test will come during this Fall and Holiday season. Will the public be willing to shell out loads of money for the '21st century Walkman'? Or will they genuinely think that 'Touching is good [with friends online]?'

It dosen't make any sense to me why anyone would buy a PSP. 2-3 hours battery life, different format for movies, expensive games(that are ports) old expensive music. Really pretty screen though!(LMAO). What has the world come to with a bunch of wannabees trying to be cool, buying Sony for brand name power. The system sucks. For the ridiculous price the thing better have a free 8-ball included.

Actually the battery life is 3-6 hours bu8t that's still bad. The DS's 6-10 are already too low for me.
