The "Unofficial" Revolution release info. My opinion!!!
« on: March 20, 2005, 03:08:04 PM »
Ok I come hear alot, and I just read some of the post some of U have, and some of them to me are pretty cool, but some are not even worth commenting on.  I was just thinking when the Revolution releases that Nintendo should follow these guidelines to have a successfull launch.

1. LAUNCH DATE-Ok I now Nintendo is trying to release this console the same time or earlier than it's competitors. Well it's pretty much a lock the Xenon/XBOX 2, whatever it's called will be released this year maybe in November. Nintendo has already said they are NOT releasing the Revolution this year. So just before the PlayStation 3. I think the perfect launch date, which may be too late for the release of the PS3, would the weekend right before Thanksgiving 2006. Realistically I think it will be released in May or June 2006. But if they can wait till Nov. it would really be great as far as sales.  Everybody knows that time of the year is the best time of year as far as retail sales. They need to see somehow how many systems they have on Pre-order from retailers, and then just add however many units they see fit for just "walk-ins". Then they next week ship out the second shipment for the BIGGEST shopping day in the US...the day after Thansgiving. I would prefer it be released sooner, but this is just from the company's thought process.

2. LAUNCH TITLES- Gamecube launch titles, to me just plain SUCKED. Let TRY to remember what they were.  Madden (the only GOOD one), Waverace (alright), All-Star Baseball,......I can't remember any others, but they were not good to me. This system needs to have AT LEAST 8-10 titles at launch. I think 2 or 3 current franchise titles, one or two NEW franchise titles, and the rest THIRD party games. I'm sorry Nintendo, but it does seem like they don't like having GREAT relationships with third party publishers. Here is a list of maybe what they can do.
         1. Madden 2007-I'm sorry this franchise should be launch on ANY system. And playing it Wi-Fi...I WILL be the number one Madden player...Guaranteed!!!
         2. A Metriod game
         3. A Super Smash Brothers
         4. Resident Evil 5
         5. NBA Live
         6. I WOULD say a Mario game, but with the release of Mario "128"...that indicates to me it's coming out on the Gamecube. Mario 64 was on the N64, because it was a 64-bit system. Mario 128 has to be on the Gamecube, cuz that's a 128-bit system. Unless that's not the actual name of it. But if it is released on Gamecube, I think it will be too soon for a Revolution release. As will a Zelda title.
         7. Some new first person shooter, with the BEST multi-player. Some that revolutionizes first person shooters. Alaa Goldeneye & Perfect Dark (the best GAME EVER)
         8. Some new franchise action game
         9. Some new franchise/third party fighter
         10. A new Star Wars game
Now some of these titles I don't play really like Super Smash Broth., Metriod. I may start playing Zelda. Sorry those games really don't appeal to me, but I DO know that most of the Nintendo fans do, and they are do VERY for Nintendo. Also maybe another Animal Crossing.

I just think offering different types of genres on a launch is VERY important. By 2007 I think there needs to be 20-30 Revoltuion titles available, including to 8-10 launch titles.

3. PRICE & BUNDLE- We don't know what the specs are yet of the Revolution. All we know hat is confirmed is that it will have Wi-Fi, and backwards compatible GC games. But I would say a price of $249-299 is a good price. Especially when more than likely it will have pretty much the same stuff as XBOX2 and PS3...how powerful it , is the graphics, ect. Kinda like it is know with the current systems.

BUNDLE-I would say it will come with all the Wi-Fi hard/software needed, a controller, and also be able to chose your color. I think 4 colors would be nice at launch. Black, Silver/Platinum, Navy Blue, Red

These are just some things I was thinkin' bout as far as the launch. The Gamecube launch was a pretty cool experience for me. I went to a 24-hr Wal-mart, got a number and around 12:30 or 1 am they came in. There was a pretty long line too. I saw that Best Buy is opening early for the PSP launch....WTF for??? It's not a console. I want that to be the situation for the Revolution. I want people campin out over night, waiting in line for  an hour for it ect. But Nintendo has to come correct on this system, and advertise out the ass. I like that they are going around to "Hip" spots and advertising stuff now. Like at colleges, concerts, ect. Like hear in KC, we have this spot were like theres is 7-8 clubs all in a 2-3 blaock radius. They need to bring a big van or 18-wheeler so people can play it before it comes out. Also have it station in stores, like at EB Games or Gamestop, Toys R Us, Best Buty ,ect

Yeah, but WHY is the question. Again Mario 64 was called that because it was on the N64...a 64-bit system. See the relation?

Fail.

The GameCube is 64 bit.  The Xbox is 32 bit.

I got bored with Metroid Echos.  Come on- How many times is Samus going to go to a planet, and lose all the weapon
functions in her suit?!  At some point she should get that fixed.  How about some different weapons for a change?  How about
a Metroid Bounty hunter game?  I would love to go treking around to different planets and hunt down wanted fellons.
Enough with the stupid space pirates that look retarded.  Samus is a bounty hunter, yet we never get to see her hunting
for bounty- she is always crashed somewhere, trying to fix her suit, and save a planet.  AND why is it that when her suit
malfuncions, it just happens that the planet she is on has all the very same powerups that she had, and needs to fix?

I think the story line works better when she didn't have these items, and then FOUND the upgrades on the planet.

I loved Metroid for NES, and SNES.  And it was cool on the cube, but I just couldn't get into the sequel- it all felt the same.

I would love to see another Mario game that harkened back to the good old days.  None of the heavy text quest mario,
or the gimmicky mario cart or mario paint- just give me a cool side scroller, or 3d thing.

^---- Blaming Ninty for not having Samus do bounty-hunting is like blaming Ninty for not making a game where Mario does plumbing...

If what I'm thinking they'll do with it is what they'll do with it, see Metroid Prime Hunters.

"The GameCube is 64 bit. The Xbox is 32 bit."

Quiet.  That sort of honesty is why some people think the Cube is underpowered.

The big difference between Plumbing and bounty hunting is that Bounty hunting is really fun, and driving around unclogging
toilets is, uhhh.....

That launch title list sounds a bit overkill. Expect 1-2 great games and a few filler titles, no way you're going to see even 5 great games at launch, most great games are great because the publisher is not forcing a certain date on them.

I really think Nintendo may hold Mario 128 back for the Revolution.  1 year to update the graphics and add more levels and such would be huge, and it would give Revolution the killer launch game we want.

Obviously, Zelda will be much later.  I could also see Retro working on another Metroid game for launch with the Revolution.

If Nintendo is able to launch 3 great games for the Revolution we will be set.

Mario
Smash Brothers
and
Metroid

This would be a great launch.

Here is another thought.  Imagine if the next Metroid game is allowed to be link hunters with the controls.  Revolution could have a launch title multi player game that would rock.
