I don't know if anyone around here is interested in buying Retro Atari Classics, but if you were I'd recommend you get Atari Anniversary Advance if you need it bad enough.  I've seen a copy of the game yesterday and all I can say is wow.  You'd think that in this day and gaming age ports of 20+ year old games wouldn't have an issue going over to current hardware, but it seems like guys at Atari thought otherwise.  Asteroids doesn't control well at all.  Centipede looks like it was slowed down and the spider just isn't right.  Tempest doesn't have any of the between stage transitions where you had to avoid the spikes anymore and for whatever reason can ONLY be played with the stylus, which would be fine if it worked.  To make matters worse, the remix versions of these games BLOW.  They look ugly as sin, especially Centipede that replaces the mushrooms with hearts and the creature you controlled with this horrible SpongeBob looking ripoff!

The only good to this game?  If you liked Breakout, you'll love the fact it's probably the most playable version of this game since the old days.

The review on IGN was devastating. Atari really sucks now but whaddaya expect from a company that's headed by Nolan Bushnell?

This is what happens when you let the interns code up these remakes (I'm convinced that's how these companies pump these things out )

This must of been developed by the janitors at Atari Australia. Seriously, you know a company is awesome when they manage to somehow bugger up Asteroids.

The Atari Flashback has similar issues.  The games were all recoded, as opposed to being emulated, and they were all absolutely awful.  Damn shame, too ...

Which happens to be 5 million copies of E.T. and other assorted carts lying in a dump in New Mexico.

EDIT: Thanks Rick.

"Which happens to be 5 million copies of E.T. lying in a dump in Mexico."

It was actually NEW Mexico, and it was several million assorted carts, not just E.T. (though E.T. was a large portion of them).

Yeah, those 15 million copies of PacMan have their fair share, too. BTW, 5 million ET copies? Does that mean 7 million actually sold?

I currently wonder whether the DS could handle the Asteroids (that one from the "remake boom" where we got to see Missile Command, Frogger, Centipede, Pong, etc redone in 3d) remake with the 3d graphics... Well, if not, gimme Super Stardust, looks better than 3d Asteroids by far.

Going down hill? Atari's been sitting at the bottom of the hill ever since they launched the 7800.

Actually they went beyond the bottom and now rest 6 feet under, a new vicious demon formerly known as Infogrames is now disguised as Atari.
