Sarcasm is the invisible emoticon.

Yes indeed.

Or, wait, was that sarcasm?
“...there are those who would...say, '...If I could just not have to work everyday...that would be the most wonderful life in the world.' They don't know life. Because what makes life mean something is purpose.  The battle. The struggle.  Even if you don't win it.” - Richard M. Nixon

well it did sort of seem like sarcasm, i saw nothing in the above posts to warrant it. sarcasm is tough to decipher sometimes, especially in a forum.

Jap Hardware numbers for last week,

PSP 57,686
DS 54,284
PS2 39,076
GBASP 9,982
GBM 6,341
Xbox360 6,107
GC 5,465
GBA 233
Xbox 119

PSP continues to walk all over Nintendo DS, all those games and Nintendo still can't encourage people to buy the system, I think the obvious reason here is because while Nintendo games sell a lot, they dont make people buy systems for them, those 1.7 million Animal Crossing owners probably dont even have a DS. Of course, Iwata would spin the usual "oh but we're sold out", as Kuturagi would say "Not my problem."

Look at the Xbox 360 momentum, i'm (genuinly) quite surprised at the legs it has, it's passed the GameCube once again and is hot on the heels of the Gameboy Micro and SP. Also note TWO Xbox 360 games entered the top 20 this week, Enchant Arms at #13 and Project Gotham Racing 3 at #18.

(I think Xbox 360 has more games in the top 20 than PSP LOL)

By the way, LAST last weeks numbers that Media Create had PSP ahead of DS, these

PSP - 132,757
DS - 91,379

Have been challenged by Famitsu, they release their numbers a week late, but their numebrs for that same week are.

DS - 125,957
PSP - 125,095

Nintendo un-doomed?

It pretty much comes down to how many DS's they can ship at this point, but i'm shocked and outraged at the massive difference between two different sales trackers, Media Create clearly has a massive bias against Nintendo.

A little soon for the "Ninty ish teh D00med." DS will be fine unless Nintendo pulls a MS and doesn't ship any consoles for an entire year...

As an owner of both PSP and DS, it completely blows me away that this is even a race at this point. When it comes to gaming, there is no doubt that the DS is the superior system. I really don't even feel it's up for debate. I mean, these people have probably been playing their PS2's the last five years. It just shocks me that so many of them are willing to take such a step back in gaming quality in the name of portability. Yes, the PSP is sexy and that screen was designed by God Himself, but where the hell is the substance? It's multimedia capabilities? Lumines is STILL the PSP's only "must play" game and everything else can be found in superior form on consoles. It makes my head hurt thinking about it, but then I remember that these are the same people the enabled Fear Factor to be on the air longer then four episodes, turned Titanic into the highest grossing film of all time, were the reason Paris Hilton became a pop cultural touchstone, and are why boy bands were allowed to LIVE. How irritating.

"Between October 31 and January 15, the site reports that Sony's widescreen handheld sold 972 thousand units during that period. By comparison, the DS sold 2.33 million units during the same period. "

Thats an excert from a article at gamespot.   http://www.gamespot.com/news/6142782.html

they also state that ds's are being raised in price in japan, becouse of lack of stock. i've never heard of a system that is as old as the ds being in such short supply, and subject to double the retail price becouse of it. thats actually why i wasnt sure if mario was being sarcastic or not. personally, i do find it kind of ridiculous that nintendo cant get enough of a year and a half old system on the shelves. good news that it is selling so well though.

Age is somewhat irrelevant when the product uses an LCD. Screen manufacturers have been in a crunch to churn them out for years now, and that demand will just go up as consumers begin adopting HD with large LCDs.
