Noble: Not sure if it's Quest or Warrior and if there's a number involved. Nor whether it's more than a rumour.

How's that?  PSP has one game on the top ten and DS has 3, and the highest of the DS is higher than the one PSP has (by over twice as many sales).
Not saying more games wouldn't be nice, cuz they would, but it certainly seems to have the games it needs for now.

In Japan, that's true. However, everywhere else, a few more high quality games would be appreciated..

How's it true? Because the DS does best when a new game comes out. It has nothing to do with the PSP, I was not talking about the PSP. I'm talking about the DS. Is it coincidental that the system had its highest software sale in a while and the highest system sales? Yes the colours affected it, but Kirby is the highest seller in a while.

Anyone else think Nintendogs could be a huge thing in Japan?

not just japan but here too.

But this is great, coupled with the flopped US release and the pushed back Europe release, its looking like Nintendo could finish off the PSP, as a competitor, this year if things go well.

You're going to have to wait for NPD sales, which likely won't pop up for another week and a half...

C'mon now this is Sony we're talking about here.  If this was Nintendo vs. Sega, I could see that but not with Sony.  Don't forget GTA unless it comes out to be half the game of the consoles.

I don't doubt that the PSP will stick around for a while, but it'll end up being relegated to the "also-ran" category.

A distant second at best.

PSP just came out in the US and you are saying it will be a distant second?  You are way too early for that type of prediction.  Wait until after Christmas, then we will have a  much better idea.  Remember PSP had very little advertising before it came out.  I still have not seen a commercial for it.  If it was not for this site and a few others, I would have no idea it was out now.   Though weak sales of the PSP so far, looks good for the DS :-) At this point of the game only.

Actually i said if things go well [for ninty and the DS]then it'll end up in distant second, you have to read all my replies not just the most recent.

According to American Technology Research (don't know how reliable they are or where they got their numbers or if Nintendorks is yanking my chain here, but....) PSP sold about 575,000 units in the first week.  You can see a full article on Nintendorks

That's not too bad.  It's nothing like a sell-out, but it's a pretty brisk pace.  I'm feeling more positive and optimistic since I saw last week's DS numbers in Japan.  I don't mind Sony giving Nintendo some competition, I just don't want to see Nintendo wind up in a distant second like it has in home consoles.  I said it before and I'll say it again: I'd like to see PSP as a serious but not too threatening competitor to the DS, to force Nintendo to be a bit more competitive with things like pricing.
That's my opinion, not yours.

I'm really baffled how anyone could complain about Nintend's handheld prices. They've always been great.

I'm in the same boat actually, if anything I'd be complaining about $40 to $50 handheld games.
