I can almost assure you, adults WILL be buying a PSP.

Sure, but I doubt a lot of them will buy it for its games. Sony will hype the crap out of its limited MP3 playback, it's lagging picture viewer and its ability to plug into a Sony blender in the future to make smoothies. I bet the number one selling game will be Tiger Woods.

I'd much rather be playing Devil May Cry than "Sponge Bob Square Pants".

They're the same game, you know. They both involve you walking around generic levels, beating up the same three enemies over and over and solving 'hardcore' puzzles like "HOW DO I OPEN THIS DOOR? OLOL I HAVE TO USE THE KEY". What's the gaming worlds obsession with trying to look cool playing games these days? Playing GTA on the school bus isn't going to make the opposite sex flock to you.

The phrase "mature title" is such a hot button these days.  As soon as somebody says "this console needs more mature titles" everybody goes haywire, saying "blood and gore isn't what gaming about", blah blah blah.  I think the main point here is that the DS needs some major titles that don't include Mario, Yoshi, Wario, or some derivation.  Whether these games are M-rated or not doesn't matter, just something other than the typical Nintendo cartoony stuff.  That's the only type of game that Nintendo really puts out these days (Metroid series being the lone exception) and it's slowly killing them.

The problem is that "mature" is also the name of a rating so when you say "mature" that usualy means "rated mature". Another reason for abolishing those stupid names.

The DS needs a killer app like Tetris was for the Gameboy. Something that appeals to adults. I think the DS has a much better chance than the PSP because a stylus is more intuitive by design than standard controls. I didn't need to explain to anyone how to use the stylus on my PDA for their games, they just instinctively used it to tick the buttons. With any standard control setup I'd have to tell them how to use it and hear them complain about "complicated controls" (while playing Burnout 2, FFS!).
