I can't believe that EA is FINALLY releasing a sports game about a non-major league. I can only hope that the next league to get this treatment is the American Hockey League

They only did this to keep any possible competitors from using the AFL as a fall back since they snapped up the NFL license. Now they have exclusivity on the AFL and NFL. Is the CFL next?

Looks like it. It'll probably be carbon copy of NFL, plus some new CFL stuff.
Although CFL starts in the summer, sooo ya...

Actually in Australia the AFL is a major sport. Even though worldwide it isnt very well known but i believe EA will profit with this deal in AUS.

LOL Zelos, we are referring to the Arena Football League. Not Australian Rules Football. I can understand the mistake though. This is all about EA fearing the ESPN/SEGA alliance IMO.
