Revolution and Demasked...connection?
« on: January 05, 2005, 02:49:17 PM »
We know that the Revolution is going to be announced at E3.

I'm hearing rumors that Demasked is going to be announced at E3, instead of March like everybody's heard.

Could the two be connected?  Maybe both Revolution and Demasked will be connected to the same "network".  I gotta say that two announcements like this would mean that Nintendo would steal both Microsoft and Sony's thunder at E3, no matter what they announce.

Err... what are u talking about?

DemaSked is a project by Warp Pipe to get the DS online that's not (yet) supported by Nintendo. So no those aren't connected. And I don't think something like that will be announced at the E3 cuz... It's kinda... already announced. Here's their site www.demasked.com

It may be announced but it hasn't been revealed just who is supporting the WarpPipe team...

But we all know what it is right? Doesn't that mean it's announced already?

But you are missing Silk's point...It's been revealed that the team is working on a network for the DS, but there is a possibility that Ninty has hired them to do work for the Revolution as well... (Plus, it hasn't been announced just how Demasked will work, either)

Well they mentioned one of their competitors was Microsoft, so I think it this Demasked thing might have something to do with online on a home console. It's clearly mainly oriented around the DS though.

They mentioned that the Demasked project was delayed becuase other competitors were starting to get interest in their work.  Instead of bringing out a project still in its early stages they decided to push it back and perfect/test it so it can come out more functional.  What we don't know is how exactly it is going to work and what this delay is going to change for Demask.  When it was first announced it was a DS thing, with this delay, who's to say that it cannot be expanded upon to include the DS and Revolution.

I've always been under the impression that the Demasked team has been working directly with Nintendo.  They've been too tight-lipped for this to be a "fan scene" endeavor.  Their behavior has NDA written all over it, and who else would force them to go under NDA other than Nintendo itself?

And if Microsoft is one of their competitors, well, all I can say is that Microsoft doesn't have a handheld.

I'm sure that whatever they announce will be BIG, and it'll be announced on the day the PSP is released in March.  Perhaps a teaser will be announced saying that full details will be announced at E3.

From the Warp Pipe Forums, A direct quote by Warp Pipe's project manager, Chad Paulson.

As for demasked, it will not be announced on or before the PSP launch.

The words "will not" were bolded in Chad's original post.
