lololol at horribly overpriced games. How the hell can they justify charging double what they'd cost in the US? ;___; This exchange rate abuse should be illegal. RAPE, RAPE. I'm down with Pietriots meeting at the same joint on launch night/day (seriously, we need to do this ). The battery already comes partly charged. WE COULD SIT OUTSIDE AND PLAY METROID. If it's included over here.

It sounds like fun, in theory.

I don't know whether I'll get a DS on the first night, but I'll get it at some stage Perhaps when there are more games available than I can count on one hand

Someone has to video this.  All the Pietriots lining up outside some store for a DS, and the fight that will ensue over which of you get one of the two that will be in stock.

There's rumors that the launch details that will be announced in January will have DS at a VERY competitive price, and that Nintendo are really considering the PSP and trying to out do it in every way possible. When you think about it, they better put a shit load of effort into making the DS a success, this is Nintendo's most vulnerable territory and the ONLY thing keeping them alive here is Gameboy and Pokemon. Hopefully we can look forward to a great launch.

$70 hey? Ouch!

I reckon I'm gonna keep importing  DS games as we will most likely get games delayed aswell.

Additionally I was at Marion the other day and there were 2 people walking round the mall playing DS's how cool!
“I waited all day. you waited all day.. but you left before sunset.. and I just wanted to tell you the moment was beautiful. Just wanted to dance to bad music drive bad cars.. watch bad TV.. should have stayed for the sunset...if not for me.â€

So uh, who's getting their Nintendo DS from where? I'm getting mine from Burwood EB with Super Mario 64 DS and Wario Ware Touched unless someone can change my mind. I'm going to pre-order soon so... yeah.

(I can only confirm that this is true in New Zealand, but it's reasonable to assume it will be the same in Australia.) The Gamesman stores have all recieved their DS shipments, just they aren't allowed to sell them yet. The interesting part though, is that all employees have recieved free DSes, so if you have any stores near you, a Nintendo-friendly store attendant will probably give you a go. There's a demo for ya.

Well I pre-ordered a Nintendo DS + Super Mario 64 DS from EB Burwood, but while I was walking back home I noticed the MORONS put down Need for Speed DS instead of Nintendo DS on the docket.

"YES I'D LIKE TO PUT $200 DOWN ON NEED FOR SPEED DS PLZ"

That's like the billionth time in a row they screwed up SOMETHING I purchased / planned on purchasing. Oh yeah, the coupon worked, after the guy stared at it for 5 minutes he said "ok".

Toys R Us have some Nintendo DS deals going!

Quote

NINTENDO DS STARTER PACK

Pre-Order - $50 deposit.

- Nintendo DS with Metroid Prime: Hunters Demo
- DS Travel Pack
- Plus ONE of the following games:
- Tiger Woods PGA Tour
- Super Mario 64 DS
- Warioware Touched!
- Plus 5 x $5 Nintendo DS Software Coupons

$249.99

Nintendo DS Value Pack

- Nintendo DS with Metroid Prime: Hunters Demo
- DS Travel Pack
- Plus TWO of the following games:
- Tiger Woods PGA Tour
- Super Mario 64 DS
- Warioware Touched!
- Plus 5 x $5 Nintendo DS Software Coupons

$299.99

Now, this is the last one, which from the looks of it is wrong, since it costs more than buying two Starter Packs

Nintendo DS Double Pack

- 2 x Nintendo DS with Metroid Prime: Hunters Demo
- 2 x DS Travel Pack
- Plus TWO of the following games:
- Tiger Woods PGA Tour
- Super Mario 64 DS
- Warioware Touched!
- Plus 10 x $5 Nintendo DS Software Coupons

$509.99

That price is silly. I called up my local Toys 'R' Us and asked them about it, and they had only just realised as well. They've e-mailed the head office, and they should get back to me on Monday. One theroy the employee gave me that it might be Two copies of EACH game. That'd be TOO good of a deal if you ask me. I'm betting it's meant to be $499.99.

Good deals , i'm tempted to cancel my pre-order at EB!

edit: since the last deal is more expensive than 2 standard packs, it might be an error and they might mean you get TWO games each, which is like paying $255 for a Nintendo DS + Mario and Wario, which would  be AWESOME.

Better explanation:
Quote

Chris DS says:
soooo... the actual deal says it's one game, but you have to talk to them and explain that the double pack is more expensive than 2 standard packs (by $10 , but dont mention that), and they'll say "whoops!" and give you two ghames

Well, the Parramatta Toys R Us is a no go with the double pack thingy. Other TRU stores are in sucky locations, ololo Wagga Wagga. Hopefully they'll get it sorted by Monday, because it really doesn't make sense to charge $10 extra for nothing. I'll give them a ring Tuesday morning or something, see what's doin'.

If it doesn't pan out because NSW is crap land, I'll go with the $300 deal, I guess. It still saves a bajillion bucks. =o
