"DS Option Pack Detected"
« on: December 04, 2004, 03:51:29 AM »
I've been hearing reports from people using GBA Flash carts in their DS units that when they use the carts in the GBA slot, occasionally they'll get such messages as "DS Option Pack Detected" and being asked if they would like to activate the "Rumble Feature".

*disappears*

I personally can confirm the "DS Options Pack Detected" - athough not with a Flash Card (bad!).  Putting in the GBA Game Shark without a Game Pak in it shows this message (on my DS at least).

As far as the "Rumble" message, http://www.dual-scene.com reports that [With certain flash carts, when setting the alarm, the Nintendo DS will ask you "Would you like the Rumble Feature to accompany the alarm?"]

Oh, btw, the message is actually "DS Options Pak Detected" - so it's defenatly something Nintendo is planning, since they've always used the "Pak" description

The name "Option Pak" doesn't scream "rumble" at me, so maybe it does more?

I kinda imangined that there would be different kinds of "Option Pak" add-on devices - one of which might be a rumble pak...

Rumble while using the stylus.  That could be interesting.

Perhaps it's an online+rumble+PDA cart?

Or maybe Nintendo plans on releasing several different Option Paks.  That would kind of explain the name.  And each Option Pak has a different feature; each Pak is a different peripheral.  One could be online, one is definitely rumble...hmmm...

Yes but that would be annoying if you wanted to combine online and rumble, right?

Ah, but then we'd have a Sonic 3/Sonic and Knuckles type thing going on.  Hmm...Online+Rumble+Internet Browser+Waffle Iron=big mama DS.
