What a Freakin Deal
« on: November 21, 2004, 07:44:03 PM »
I was writing this post earlier and something went terribly wrong, so if it pops up twice I'm sorry.  I bought my Cube in summer of '03 when they offered it at Best Buy for $150 with Windwaker, a demo disc, and some crappy starter kit.  The chick at the checkout talked me into buying a 2 year product replacement plan, saying I could bring the cube back anytime within the two years and get full money back. This weekend they put a platinum cube on sale with 2 Nintendo brand controllers and Mariokart DD boxed in for 99 bucks.  I decided to see if the trade in deal would work and what do you know, they traded my cube for a voucher totalling 162.89.  They didnt want the free Windwaker game that came with it or the demo or crappy controller, just the cube.   So I grabbed the platinum cube deal for 99 and picked up MP2:Echoes with the extra 50 I had on the card.  All in all, I got a Cube, 3 controllers (although one is crap), Zelda Windwaker, Mariokart DD, Metroid Prime 2, and a demo disc for a hundred and fifty bucks.  I would suggest that anything you ever have to buy from Best Buy again that you know will eventually have a significant price drop, get that dang 2 year replacement plan.  Well worth it.  Try it out.

Here's the 10 second summary for those who don't wanna read the crap: Best Buy+2 Yr. Replacement plan= way to screw the system.

You know, I have a friend who the exact same thing a year ago or so.  I couldn't believe he got away with it, and I'd feel dirty doing the same :-)

Yea, I could see the possibility of feeling dirty, except the girl at Best Buy was basically telling me to do that exact thing.  Apparently they know that is how it is gonna work and don't care.  I would bet they still make money after its all done because half the people probably never use it if they buy it.  Who knows.  Fun for me though, and MP2 is amazing.  Oh, and i've got a duplicate of mariokart for sale if anyone wants it. Ha.

HOw much are you selling it for?  And from the looks of your screen name, you're from Austin and you're going to Texas Tech University....if so, that's badass, because that's where I'm at right now.  Well if you're up for the deal, you can AIM me at sgtshiversben,  or you can Yahoo! me at bentile3584@yahoo.com.  Same email address.

No, I own one....actually there are three in my circle of friends of three. Just I never got around to buying Mario Kart DD.  I've rented it and played it furiously, just I could never find the need to spend the 50$ to own it.  Now if this guy was offering to sell me Double Dash at a reasonable price, then maybe I'd nudge the wallet.  So yeah, there you have it.
