GC Online?
« on: November 21, 2004, 03:02:33 PM »
If I am not mistaken, there is an online service for the GC. Can someone direct me to a site with info on it? Also, can you guys tell me of some games for it? I saw Phantasy Star, which looks somewhat interesting.

NOTE- I have tried Nintendo's site, all I found was how to hook up a LAN connection. I may have overlooked it, sorry if I did.

Thanks.

Edit-- I just checked the main site. Looked at the broadband adapter. So! Do they make ethernet cable splitters? Do they make ethernet cables that are EXTREMELY long (like 20-30ft), if not, do they make "connecters" that allow you to connet a length of cables, which I guess is the same as a splitter? Do you have to pay a service to Nintendo like you have to with Xbox?

lol...if you were looking for online, buddy, you should've stuck with your Xbox.

Sure, Nintendo's system has full online capability, but "at this time, Nintendo just doesn't see it profitable."  Because of Nintendo's lack of encouragement of online play, third parties have incidentally lost interest - exept for SEGA, that is, with their two PSO games (the only two online games for GameCube), and though I don't own either, I've heard that they charge quite a hefty fee...plus the userbase is nothing like Xbox Live.  I bet you're already starting to feel the sting of selling that Xbox?  Right?  Riiiight?

Microsoft's mind tricks have not worked on this "Scarlet" (if that is your real name).  I think he is an incarnation of Yamauchi.  So now we have two Yamauchis.  The world can never have too many Draculas Yamauchis.

Not really. I hope to get a PS2 for Xmas. So it isn't really a problem. Besides, I love my GC!

Nintendo isn't not encouriging third parties to go online. They're just not paying for it.   Companies like EA that run their own servers anyway should have no problem putting games online though.  They just haven't realised how much those games would sell on cube.  I have no doubt that goldeneye online on cube would outsell the other two systems hand down. (mainly because cube only has two shooters).

Ah, but the best is yet to come, Ghost Recon 2, and the word on the street it will have full online abilities just like it's PS2 and XBOX cousins.

turok, you're joking right.  and I thought this board Hated EA so there goes the bond games.  I don't beleive that anygame not made by sega will be online for the cube until I'm playing it online myself.

This quote was taken from the latest famitsu magazine, quote is from Miyamoto himself

"Within the next 3 to 4 years, online gaming will be mainstream. Nintendo knows that and will try to move into that direction. "

Looks like Online isn't goin unnoticed.  I think we'll see Online come strong on Nintendo's behalf with the revolution.  What do yous think bout that quote.  By the way, I got that from Cube-europe.com.  They have is other quotes posted there too.  Good stuff.
"It seems that a great number of individuals crave technology that gives an individual a false sense of intimacy. Producing just enough communication to get the job done while stripping out the intangibilities. If you had the chance, would you demand convenience give your humanity back? Or would you
