Just got a GC
« on: November 21, 2004, 10:06:34 AM »
I traded in my Xbox and related things for a GC. Here is a list of what I got.

Game Cube Limited Platinum Metroid Edition
Soul Calibur II
Black Controller
150 Block Memory Card

I couldn't really find a ton of games that looked good to me. I was going to get FF Crystal Chronicles (or something like that), but it looked too much like all the other FF games. Then I saw Zoids, but I didn't have the flow for that.

So my main question is, what games would you reccomend? I prefer "dark" or "spooky" games, or those involving vampires. I enjoy some fighting/shooters as well, and the ocasional RPG.

I'm guessing your 150 block memory card was third-party.  Don't take chances with those, just a heads-up.

Uh...the only Trannsylvanian game I can think of is Castlevania, which I doubt we'll see on the Cube.  But for dark or spooky (or if zombies are an alternative to vampires :-D), definitely Resident Evil.  RE4 is easily one of the most anticipated games out there right now, If I'm correct it's releasing early next year.  For fighters, SCII is just about the best you'll get on the Cube, and for shooters, we've got all the 007 games (Rogue Agent's released this month), TimeSplitters II (I believe TimeSplitters III is comign out this month as well), and thoughit's not really a shooter, definitely look at Metroid Primes 1 and 2 (you got the demo for MP2, check it out).  Zoids is pretty fun IMO, I guess that would fall under the shooters category.  For RPGs, look at the newly-released Paper Mario II: The Thousand-Year Door and Baten Kaitos.  Paper Mario's more for you, being an "occasional" RPG type, BK's more hardcore.

Hope that helps some.

You missed the big 600+ reply thread that's been stuck to the top of the forum for 47 years. It's meant for this question (for it is sexy disco)

Get Aquaman, Charlie's Angels (or the more popular Charlie's Angles. It's a mature math game), Universal Studios, Turok Evolution, Monopoly Party and Lost Kingdoms.

Wow, you must not be a Halo fan.  But its cool that you have purchased a gamecube, although you really should have posted this in the "what games should I get" thread.  Anyway, definately check out Resident Evil and Resident Evil 0.  Sould Calibur II is the best fighting game on gamecube, but there are also quite a few Street Fighter games that might be worth looking into.  Time Splitters 2 is the best FPS on gamecube, and Metroid Prime being the best FPA game ever.  Good luck with your Cube.

By quite a few Street Fighter games, do you mean Capcom VS. SNK 2 and nothing else?
"Use the C-Stick to pull off moves!" Yeah, that worked out well.

RE0 the REmake and the soon to be realeased RE4 area all excellent choices.  If your looking for pure fun, check out Super Monkey Ball 1 or 2, I have them both, awsome games.  Eternal Darkness is another one to look into if you are really into spooky games.  Mario Kart is another fun title to have around for when friends drop by, excellent multiplayer experience.   I got rid of my XBOX as well, the thing just stopped working so I traded it in for cube games.

I had to trade XBOX games in for Cube games for various reasons. I just got tired of seeing a big space on my desk being taken for something that I havent played in ages.

EA's NHL 2005, NBA Live 2005, Tiger Woods 2005, and Madden 2005 are all excellent sports games to get. Im getting three of those for someone who plays games on Gamecube as a Christmas gift. Make sure you get the latest memory card upgrade by Nintendo (the 1019, I believe). Its perfect for those sports games that require lots of blocks to store game info, etc.

See if you can get the Zelda Collectors Edition disc. Its available via the Internet at various sites. I noticed at EBGames that its available preowned for $49.99.
