Nintendo is the 'stuff' in 'stocking stuffer'.

Here's the No-Nonsense Master Shopping List

REDMOND, Wash., Nov. 16, 2004 - Just like snowflakes, no two press releases are alike. Except during the holidays, when they're all exactly the same. So Nintendo is taking a break from decking the halls and is opting instead for the straightforward approach to tell you about all the great stuff available for the holidays. From the innovative new Nintendo DS™, to Metroid® Prime 2 Echoes and a high-value bundle for Nintendo GameCube™, to new styles for the best-selling Game Boy® Advance SP, Nintendo delivers holiday delight on three separate game platforms this year.

"Once again, video games and systems will be hot gifts for anyone with a wish list this holiday," says George Harrison, Nintendo of America's senior vice president of marketing and corporate communications. "With so many Nintendo products to choose from, no stocking should be left unstuffed."

Anyone confused about what gift to give for the holidays need look no further than the list of best-selling video game products on Amazon.com. Roughly 10 out of the top 25 sellers on the list are Nintendo games, hardware or accessories for Nintendo products. Wow, look at all of the games with Mario in the title in the Gamecube stable.  If you're going to rely on a single character to feature in most of your games, it might as well be Mario, says I.

Well Double Dash came out a while ago.
And I had no idea Mario Party 6 was coming out this early.
However, I cannot wait for Kirby.

Five Mario games released within less than six months from each other.  Now why does Nintendo get accused of being a rehash company again?  Geez.  Lay off the sequels.  Of those five Mario titles I would say that Paper Mario is the only one that's even remotely essential.  All the rest could have never been announced and no one would have noticed their absence.

In fact all of the first party games mentioned in this press release are sequels.  Does Nintendo not see a problem with this?

You don't think Double Dash!! is essential?  Geez, remember all the complaining about Mario Tennis?  It was even announced, but it took so long to develop people wondered if it still existed.  People would kill if there wasn't a Mario Kart game for the GC.

The others are meh.

"You don't think Double Dash!! is essential?"

I didn't notice that it was mentioned in the press release.  Yes I think Double Dash is essential.

I don't think Double Dash is essential.  I don't have it.  And really don't want it, unless it is availabe for like 19.99, then maybe I will consider it.  I am leaning heavily towards mario tennis, almost bought it saturday morning when I went to wal*mart, but the elec department was like chaos in hell invading heaven so it was a no go.

I think using Mario is simply a smart move in nintendo's case.  Seriously, do you think the same tennis game without Mario would sell as well?  Same can be said about Mario pinball, its not like there are six Mario platformer games all coming out.  Mario does it all.   I hope nintendo really pushes the Bundle with Mario Kart DD, one thing that was not mentioned is that it comes with two controllers, thats a sweet deal for $99.  Seeing how Mario Kart is widely popular, I think it could give a similar boost in sales like last years price drop, for the Holiday season anyway.

"..... its not like there are six Mario platformer games all coming out"

Some people don't realize that though, and that's what Ian was talking about. They walk down the gamecube aisle and see "Mario this" and "Mario that", then they think to themselves, "Does Nintendo even make anything besides Mario?"

That doesn't even make sense, man. Essential, what? They're releasing sequels so people can have fun, not because little Timmy will die in the Hospital if he doesn't get a life saving injection of Mario Tennis. IT'S ESSENTIAL HE GETS SOME MARIO TENNIS, GLAAAAARF.

I finally got a chance to get my filthy hands on the DS. Simply put: Wow.

But then I think of the gaming drought after the holiday season...

I'm guessing if they called it "Luigi's tennis" it wouldn't sell so well?

As far as the new SP colors: Surf Blue=Mana Blue? Pearl White=The one that the Japanese got as a FFTA/SP bundle?
Tattoo=Tribal design? Green/Orange=For the colorblind?
