Shocker! A Rare game gets delayed
« on: November 03, 2004, 12:58:10 PM »
From IGN XBox.

Apparently Kameo has just been pushed back from "Jan 2005" to "indefinitely delayed".
Poor people should eat wheat!
I'm about to go punk up some 3rd parties so they don't release games on other hardware, ciao!

It's funny because there is a screenshot of this game on my Cube's box.

I have a feeling the MS is considerably sh!ttier at keeping Rare in line than Nintendo is.  Somehow I don't think if Rare still was with Nintendo that all of their Cube games would be delayed indefinitely.

Oh well, now I have more time to save up for an Xbox. If this game will even be released for Xbox.

Sure it will be relased for Xbox, just Xbox 3 or 4.

It will allegedly not be ready in time for a 2002 release and, in fact, could slip into 2004.

LOL.. Perfect dark 0 wont even be out for xbox.. most likely xbox 2.  I agree that Rare is a slow company.. ive been a rare fan since back in the days.

I do like that microsoft bought out Rare tho.  Cause now i get to play conkers bad fur day online with 16 players.  Halo2 comes out on tuesday and it has a demo of the new conkers remake.  I cant wait to try it.

Also.. perfect dark 0 would be much better on the xbox with the online play and all.. but since RARE is a slow company.. and pd0 wont be out for like 3-4 more years.. I dont know which system is better to have it on cause we dont know which of the systems (revolution or xbox next) will have the better/ more advanced options for online play.

It'd actually probably be nicer if you didn't mention that.

The game was lacking... a lot...
Cool art but still... Rare can do better.

Funnily enough, I was aware of that when I mentioned it.

They released two or three GBA games during that time.

Also it sounds like they are trying to finish up conker first since it's bound to sell better.

Except Microsoft owns 100% of Rare, not just a majority of the company like Nintendo did.

Honestly, I still think Rare is going to make a comeback, but I've been proven wrong again and again, so I should just shut up now.

But I'm not one to shut up just because I should.  I do believe that you'll see a lot of new games from Rare starting with Xbox 2.  Not to mention that Rare has released several GBA games: DKC, Sabrewulf, DKC2 and soon It's Mr. Pants and Banjo Pilot.
That's my opinion, not yours.

you can't put the letter M beside the $.  It takes a lot more work to make a console game than it does a handheld game.  escpecially two ports.  The only console game they're working on is a port with online multiplayer now.  That shouldn't have taken as long to make as it has.  Its been in development for quite some time.  Kameo was their first origional console game since (i'm ignoring that other game for their sake) SFA.  If it takes them forever to make that game then how long is it going to take them to make PD0.  A long time that's how long.  If the game goes online and is an entirely new game there's no way they get it done for the xbox2 launch next fall.  It'll be atleast autumn 2006.

I remember shaking my head at posts about gamers selling their GC because Rare was sold to Microsoft.  These folks hopefully have learned their lesson by now: do not buy a system now for a game that is 6+ months away.

TheYoungerPlumber, I really have no doubts that Rare is in big trouble as it looks with release schedule. I once read something, somewhere on the Internet here about former Rare employees who complained about how arrogant the management had become there, and that they weren´t being paid for the work they were doing. Including all sorts of other problems. So that there is a delay on Kameo, may merely reflect deep trouble within that company. I certainly don´t own a GameCube because I want to play Rare games. I think they´re done.

Nintendo sure didn´t sell then off to Microsoft for no good reason. They knew Rare is done. Just the way I think they look at them.

Apparently Conker has just been delayed to May.
