Topic: DS games from Blizzard?

I just wanted to know if it would be possible to put any of the Blizzard games like Warcraft, Diablo, or StarCraft onto the DS. I'vw been thinking that Blizzard could find a good way to do it with the touch-screen and the pen.

I'm sure it's possible (although the game designs might have to be changed/limited because of the small screen).  The question is, will Blizzard do it?  I hope so, because I agree that this type of game will work well on the DS.

I too think it would be the greatest thing ever if they did that.  But screw Blizzard, they take too long.  We need some Civilization on that little thing.  But, StarCraft would be a great plus.  Something not even the PSP wouldn't even be able to match.

Or we can wait for Pikmin DS.

The saddest thing is we'll probably never see Warcraft or Starcraft, and the PSP will see every last version, even though the touch screen would rock.

I'm really looking forward to the possibility of a Pikmin DS.  That could be awesome.
I'd want them to include more than just touching, though.  Add something new to the game, a slightly different style of play.  Cuz touching won't add that much to the game, though it would be nice.

As for Blizzard, my roommate bought World of Warcraft so I'll probably play some of that.

Maybe for you. I'm still thinking of how fun it would be to pick up Pikmin with the stylus and fling them everywhere.

Haha, that hadn't crossed my mind.  At the moment I typed that, not putting much thought into it, I had only considered it for using it to move around Olimar (which, admittedly, wasa bit dumb).  That would be pretty awesome.
However, I think they could do something really awesome on the top screen, something other than just a map, too.  Something to add another layer of depth into the game.
And maybe you could say certain things into the microphone and the Pikmin would do something.  Not directions or anything, because that would be a pain and ineffective, but after every stage or something you'd get a certain word or sound to say, and when you said it into the microphone the Pikmin would do something special.  Maybe just some fun, funny acrobatics, maybe something actually useful but that is used in particular situations.  Could depend on the level.  Just something extra, for fun and maybe be useful.

Theres no way that the PSP would get a strategy game like WarCraft on the PSP because it wouldnt work right. It would be worse than the N64 version of StarCraft. The DS could possibly do it because of the touch-screen, and I really like Hostile Creation's idea of the voice chat. That would be very slick if they could get that idea off the ground.

I was thinking they could show the viewpoint of the captain you aren't controlling. That would be pretty cool, to be able to really switch between them on the fly whenever something happened or one group of Pikmin's task was done.

Heh, flinging Pikmin would be awesome Maybe you can use the microphone to yell out encouragement or something...Or maybe when they are carrying an item you are forced to yell out directions, or maybe have the option...

StarCraft on the DS would rock. Red Alert 2 would be cool too even though it isn't made by Blizzard.

I always thought of using the stylus in Pikmin for like...you know how in the first game you gotta like sepparate 'em to get the ones you want?  I think it would be cool just to draw like a shape around the ones you want and then just "drag" the stylus to make em move.  That way you could control Olimar with the D-pad while you control the Pikmin - sepparately.

I wonder why this in't in the DS thread...?

Why not both? You could hold L or something to draw the shape of whatever you want to separate... then you can drag and fling whatever shape you picked out to throw them.

StarCraft DS would be quite a pleasant surpise, and considering StarCraft 64 was Nintendo-published, I wouldn't completely rule out the possiblity.
