Topic: gamecube noise

hey if anyone could help, while playing games my gamecube seems to emit a high pitch noise, i think its maybe the laser, but i want to double check before i begin to sort it out.  if it is the laser or another problem could someone please point me to somewhere where i can buy a new laser or the part i need, the tools i need and maybe a guide or something, thanks so much to anyone who manages to help.
