GC fine, controllers not working properly
« on: September 24, 2004, 10:47:08 AM »
Ok, my GC works fine, my Wavebird works fine, but my other 2 Nintendo controllers have messed up C-Sticks.  I tried the toothbrush cleaning thing and that did nothing.  I noticed the screws on the back are irregularly shaped, but they also don't look like it would work with a Gamebit.  Has anyone opened their controllers to clean them? How did you do it and did it work?  Thanks.

My controllers have always been fine, but I've opened one up due to my highly curious nature...I used a hex wrench...

Thanks for the reply, Bill.  I can't seem to figure out how you used a hex wrench, though.  I mean, they're basically just regular old Allen-keys, right?

If this is it, then I'll just go out on buy them right now.  Thanks in advance.

To open up your controller go out and buy a set of electronics screwdrivers (flat head and philips needed).  I took a flathead (one that fit across 2 of the 3 slots), got a firm grip on it, and loosened them.  I don't know if it's only the older controllers or what but one of the screws is philips (+ sign) and all the others are y shaped (don't know the name of it).  Anyways I took apart an old controller that would always move to the left and it got fixed after I reassembled it.  All I need now is replacement cups for the analog stick.....If anyone knows where I can get them please post.  Anyways I hoped that answered your question shabadu.
