But in exchange, I don't think the Online functionality will be included... (Why take it out? Just to avoid testing costs? I mean, don't PS2 and GCN online function virtually the same way? There's no Xbox Live specifics or standards, the game just talks to the modem any way it wants...)

I thought the initial estimates for how many characters added were much higher than that (didn't some publication or quote say as high as seven?), but that sounds like a more realistic number, really.

No online support will be included in the Gamecube build so we get extra characters and possibly something else as a trade off.  Your completely right that PS2 and GCN online works the same way, they need their own servers to have online games so I assume developers dont want to dedicate servers for the gamecube because of a poor online user base and poor distribution of network adapters on gamecube.

And fighters online dont exactly have the best fluidity and stability  just look at DOA:Ultimate and GG:X2 #Reload on Xbox live.

The extra characters make for pretty great news, too bad I'm not that interested in the game!  The graphics have gotten to the point where they're a little too realistic and I don't enjoy the violence anymore.  Then again, maybe I just need to rent the game to remind myself how much fun it is to brutalize my opponents.
That's my opinion, not yours.

Ha, yeah.  They're all looking for reasons not to give us more games.

On a not-so-unrelated note, Midway is headquartered ten miles away from me.  That's awesome!

Will this be the kind of game where you can beat all the bosses by repeatedly backflipping and jump kicking all the time like i used to do with Kung Lao VS. Kitaro back on Super Nintendo?

If it's anything like MK: DA, you won't be able to beat the bosses because one of them will be a mutant thing that doesn't let you get up and/or doesn't react to your attacks. Ah, AI.

Awesome. IGN confirmed Shao Kahn and Goro will be playable in the Gamecube version of MKDA. I'm definitely getting it now.

I have this game on Xbox which is probably the best system to get it on, I bought Deadly Alliance for the Gamecube and was highly dissapointed as the controlls were abysmal, I expect the same from this one.

I had Deadly Alliance for Gamecube and I have Deception for X-box. I had a much easier time pulling of combos on the GC. The can't get a decent configuration on X-box. The default setup stinks IMO. I having the analog trigger act as your style switch button doens't fly with me. I ended up making the white button my style switch button. I have a controller with the original X-box button configuration its works better but the placement of the white and black buttons is awkward no matter what X-Box controller design you have.
