Ganbare Goemon - my hero. DS?!
« on: August 11, 2004, 11:02:01 PM »
For all of you who don't know, Ganbare Goemon is a crazy Japanese mario.  Basically.  He's a video game character who has had many of his own side-scrollers, and on the 64 he had a platformer ... very similar to Super Mario 64.  Anyway, I am a rabid fan of his 64 game, and so I popped a gander (snuck a look) at the release list and saw ... low and behold, a GOEMON GAME FOR DS!!  Needless to say that I was excited.  However, Now that I think about it, I really, really, really want this to be a port of the 64 game.  Really.

Unless you're confused, yes, there were two 64 Goemon games.  I'm talking about the first one.  The platformer.  No - no, not that one, that one was the side scroller.  Yeah - you've got it, it's the platformer.

Anyway, did anyone else play the 64 game?  Is anyone else tubularily excited about this?  I am.  Tastey.

I played the SNES and N64 version and I love Goemon.

I actually don't want a port.  I actually want something Japanese crazy with both screens.  I hope Konami thinks that way and not these other ways where developers have this idea of not know so much about the DS.  Regular games can be done they just can't think outside of the box.

I just hope this game makes it to North America!  I love the Goemon games.

I would rather have a variation on the SNES game(2d/3d hybrid thingie)...That one was so much more fun...Then Konami went and ruined it with that stupid mecha crap in the 64 one... ;_;

They always had the mecha in Goemon- stick to Zelda, Bill .
They actually had a sequel to Mystical Ninja on the 64 that took Goemon back to his roots but for the life of me I don't remember what it was called.  Basically though, I want Konami to make sure they keep Goemon multiplayer just like in the originals.  And the Goemon puzzle game was pretty cool as well.

There were too!  There were about 4-5 SNES games.  I don't remember if there was one in the original but I definitely remember playing with the mech in 2D.
EDIT: Grrr!

Does anyone here think a Super Smash Bros. is possible on the DS?

I really like the mech, especially when their are two human controlled characters.  Bill, I suggest you go rent Goemon's Great Adventure for the 64 (finally remembered the name) and re-experience the mech.

SM35:  That is pretty off topic.  Try asking in another DS thread or if there aren't any compatible threads (there are just look for them), start your own thread.

I think the Mech fighting was improved significantly in the second N64 game...I think Goemon's Great Adventure was the North American title.  I actually have it....anyway, the point is, it was a lot better, and even if you hate it, those battles only make up like 5% of the game, I don't think it's a big deal.  But what I do wish they'd bring back from the SNES game is all the mini-games.  There was a lot more to do in the towns in that game!  Or at least that's how I remember it.
